Person to person interactions are standard. You can have that on chat room with friend.
No, you can't, and this bad attitude about it is in my opinion likely why you have no clue what I am talking about.

I don't just talk to people about random shit; I talk to them about things in the context of the setting, their role, their character and the current round. Then when things happen on their own with that person, or because of it, then there's enhanced RP because it's a character I know and have some kind of investment in. It's never just inane small talk; it's mutual characterization.

As for that zombie scenario you posted; lame IMO. Same thing goes for the xeno-first contact 'roleplay.' It's all inconsequential to the outcome of the round and is more an ooc-enforced formality, especially with how TDM-like CM is currently. Even worse is that that zombies round you described sounded like a bad SyFy channel flick that I'd pass watching.

It's so bad with xenos, though, that my mind doesn't even register what people actually type. I.e. I don't process, "the bugs can use vents." I instead process, "VENT-WELDING HAS BEEN UNLOCKED."

Personally, though, I don't understand or enjoy RP'ing with hostiles here. I've never, ever once seen an attempt at any kind of conflict resolution end any other way than coming to blows. EVERY time. Because what ordinarily happens is one or both sides won't compromise or even negotiate beyond, "give me what I want now." You'll have that kind of uncertainty and tension every round.

@Build_R_
Yes I meet new characters and get to know them every other day at least. What are you doing to where you don't get to know them?

Oh I've been maining xeno for the past months, it's just from the sound of a lot of people in this thread, roleplaying with newbies isn't that popular.

"Kettle" is like my new nickname, that is burned on my chest with acid, or lurker claws. It's like a medal, but from benos.

Just look at marines without nicknames = 75% are probably new players. Whenever new player is fighting xenos, you can hear if he is new. Explosions and screams are the indicator.
I was just saying pot and kettle to fit into the heated joke
When the OB misfires and xenos are on your doorstep.

'Completely out of line.' Just like you meta-grudging a RO over grenades right Dolth?

It's really not 'completely' out of line to make a pop culture reference and one relating to a PFC's nickname.

Completely out of line could be things like, retiring dramatically or making a vore event.
right... I think you got me confused with Driecg about the retirement. Look, handle some critism instead of being a child. Kinda why you are banned not once but twice from the discord. Have some humility and some self-reflection for once in your life.

Woah woah easy there chief, I was banned for insulting people not handling criticism poorly. I think you have me confused for someone who cares about who you are or what you do. Just keep your giant dogs events off my Christian CM server.

Quite the contrary, most new players tend to put a nickname in their character name after some rounds because most regulars have them. You can easily identify a new-semi new player by their nickname.

Also nicknames are gay

This

I don't have many problems with people that do use nicknames tho, it's just that I'm not going to use it when actually addressing them
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Bad attitude? Nah.

Well... I'm not that kind of "people-person". I don't like to talk shit about "how are you feeling", or "what are you doing", or "how much are you invested in it". This is why I don't play pilot, becouse this role depends on it.

This doesn't go for the xeno-first contact, becouse:
a) If you are in squad, everyone rushes xenos to chase and kill wounded ones. Otherwise it's pointless to shoot. You don't have much time to RP.
b) Xenos in vents/lurkers/hiding runners will target you as soon as they will spot that little cloud on your head if you are not in a big group.
c) Xenos spin.
d) Yeah, fast monsters that breed in darkness, heal on the floor and are basically stripped from their "charm" aren't lame SyFy flick. Movie aliens are cool, server player xenos are lame.

You never did, probably. Talking with CLF/UPP who just spotted you during conflict, but begs for his and his friend life that is bleeding out in the corner is neat.

*Slips in between the salt-fight*

Yeah I just wanted to say I rarely RP myself on the server because people will mostly
a. Ignore you
b. Answer with fucking low RP, not memery, just bad RP that isn't intresting
c. Ask in general comms in what year we are, barely no one knows we're in 2186 and even less knows what's Herculis & Chinook & Hadley's Hope while Hadley's hope events were kind of a tragedy to the USCM especially for people who claims they knew Sulaco or the vessel previous to the events.

I RP since now 11 or 12 years on every support (from regular D&D paper, shadowrun paper, 40K paper, regular Warhammer paper / GTA:SAMP roleplay (that was 300players HRP) / HL²RP on Gmod on TnB (no, not the regular shit we have now) / M&B WRP when it was a thing, and forum RP but I didn't really like it).

There was one thing in common in EVERY OF THEM that helped a LOT with the immersion, and it was a player background. Right now on CM no one barely has an idea of who their character are, how are you expected to RP, even if it's LRP (honhon we're not MRP) if people can't even manage to pull out a proper "Where are you from?" - "Earth honhonh okay lets kill CLF" - People don't even know why CLF are angry against USCM.

There's a reason I say we need a weekly RP only round (one that's not an event disguised as RP, but just everyone chilling on Almayer) and it's basically just to let us have some of the interactions the MRP claim should provide: let Dolth set up a weekly D&D game if he wants; give Delta and Charlie a chance to show who's better in a shooting competition or basketball game; maybe give Pearsall a chance to set up a poker tournament from time to time. Stuff like that to give people a chance to meet and interact with other players outside their squads/normal groups in a way that goes beyond rioting or FFing each other.

We should also have a weekly chaos round where there are no rules. I wanna see the world burn.

We actually did that last year on halloween. The purge round where no rules but 3 were applied.

If you didn't multikey, ERP and something else I forgot, it was fair game.
People begged for a normal round after 5 or so rounds of insanity.

Was that when we had the Battle Royale style tribal thing? People formed groups and basically battled it out in a kill or be killed scenario.

Also I forgot to point out how far we are from even LRP when we get some people doing emotes with the first person, "Baldo Dumbo aims at you".
Anyone thinks it's a regular emote is it clear for everyone that's not how you RP?
