So I tried something today.

I was an engie and I evacced, but the door was still open.

At first I was like 'OH SHIT, HOLD YOUR BREATH!' ... but no air fled out ...

Then I was like ... hey ... what happens if you go out into space? ... do you splat on the planet? land on the planet?

... well, I'm here to say it's not all that eventful. Your body just gets deleted instantly.

This then pops up.

"You get lost in space, never to be seen again ..."

Admemes sometimes spawn everyone outside Almayer and it works like just on other servers. Oxygen and Brute damage all over the body for Marines.

No space combat makes me sad. I still count on wearing Space Suit and fighting with helpless xenos, becouse of new situation where they can't brainlessly charge at you.

I imagine that atmos bring disabled plays a part in space being 'disabled'. Also, it being blocked off significantly cuts down on griefing and LRP shenanigans.

In the future I wouldn't mind seeing it re-enabled, maybe when the HvH round type become more developed.

Back on the days of the Sulaco, There would be breaches into space when the dropsip crashed into the Ship. Or when Xenos intentionally melted a breach cause they can function perfectly fine in space and marines cannot. Or when a marine throws a bunch of grenades and part of the ship hull collapsed and sucked out people and Xenos alike into space.

Was an interesting depth of play. But it was both easy to abuse and often torture for human players.

Having constant atmos calculations will also bring virtually any server into a grinding halt.

Just imagine the highpop lag and then make it twice as bad.

In case anyone's wondering what happens if you go through the full disposals system. I did it once and went out into space for a second and then teleported onto the Alamo which was docked on the ship.

Only if the server uses ancient atmos code
