Regarding Cryo Camping

Please clarify what's the policy on benos that burst on the Almayer camping the cryo pod room for naked marines to kill.

When I did it a month ago as a sentinel, I was told to knock it off by a moderator. Today I got killed by a runner that was camping the vent in the cryo room, ahelped about it and a mod told me it was allowed. Got revived and had surgery then killed again when the same runner was camping the prep room this time, lol

last one was pretty funny but still, just want to know what the rules say about this to keep it in mind for future occasions.

We’re you a Charlie marine by any chance? Pretty sure I heard your screams, then saw you walking real slow (assuming you hadn’t eaten) from medbay to your prep... yeah that one runner was messing marines up pretty bad.

Ok, 'ere we go:

Cryo camping is allowed

But ARES should be smarter and disable/reenable joining depending on the situation.

Moderators can do that, but they should never influence round unless they have to.

Basically there should be something that checks for it, but it is hard to implement without adding more lag. And we are busy on other stuff.

If you are ghosting and see beno camping the cryotubes - ahelp so they disable joining

Is it possible to alert new joiners that the aliens have crashed into the station, similar to how other stations alert new players that the station is evacuating? I can't check atm if that is already in the game, but if so that's a good way to just let marines know that aliens are boarding the station and starting to kill everyone so they can be wary of spawning.

I was an MP this round from roundstart. The runner in question came up very early after killing the DS1 PO, and proceeded to murder anyone and everyone in prep/Cryo. I was constantly checking the crew monitor to see who/where his next victim was. The player controlling the runner was playing really smart, avoiding big fights and picking targets carefully. I had to resort to just waiting in the Cryo room and escorting marines to their prep while screaming “get a gun.”

So basically... Xeno can now meta this knowledge and just order one xeno to camp there to cut newcomers? Neat. Xenos can't meta.

Well, crash already disables joining. What that lurker did is they fetched a ride on INTACT dropship

They can until you notify mod+ staff to disable latejoining, because we devs are super lazy and don't wanna code

I think there's been a miscommunication here, the situation was mid round, benos hadn't boarded yet. On both cases the xeno in question was simply a larva that bursted when the host was on the almayer.

we already coded that crash causes joining to get auto-disabled.

So I will repeat. Bug local mod+ to disable joining. Then bug them to enable it back after camping stopped

on higher alert levels spawn new joins with a loaded M4A3 and play a little warning beep at them

it's an emergency feature of the cryo chamber, I guess

I mean it makes at least a bit of sense for the cryopods to have little emergency compartments with sidearms in them. This is a military ship and it would be a logical response to exactly this scenario, marines exiting cryo when there are hostiles onboard the ship.

If it improves gameplay then go for it, I don't really care if it makes sense. I just think its funny.

If you late join as SO you have a custom M4A3 with AP mags on hand. I'd say you have a chance.

If you late join as anyone other than a civie or Marine you have some sidearm. Latejoining as PO is nice because you have the 88 Mod 4, which I've shared my opinion of in the past.

in a lone xeno scenario you're probably dealing with a T1 or a lurker who has no ability to heal, if you get a couple of shots off on them they might eat you but they're not going to be able to just sit there and camp afterwards, the second or third person to magdump an M4A3 at them is going to get them.
