Dalekfodder's Moderator Application

Post by Dalekfodder » 26 Apr 2015, 07:24

Byond ID: Dalekfodder

Age: 17

Timezone: GMT+3 Summer Tİme

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? About 7/24 till the summer's end

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? Garry's Mod, SS13 Hypatia Station, the earlier Colonial Marines which was hosted by NSS Gaming (perhaps the first one, ran by captain english)

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? Affirmative. I've only missed one version and that was the timeline between the NSS and the Eden version.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before? I've only had a Colonial Marines server of NSS, which I ended up as head administrator, then I tried to apply for coding to new eden and they didn't accept it due to the fact that back in time I didn't have experience.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? Not at the moment.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? Never been banned before.

If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation? Of course there's a weakened variable, I would apply that and question the said player, according to the responses and et cetera I would hand out either punishment or if proven innocent I would issue only a warning and forgive them.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender? According to their intent, simply would ask them their intention, whether they knew about the rule or not. If they're found toxic and their intent is clearly malicious I would go ahead and issue a ban, as it's the first offend it would long 24 hours. However if they're new and they couldn't acknowledge the rules properly, I would issue a simple warning.

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do? I'd recommend them not to do it, since there's no real emergency and in character we don't want the station destroyed. I would send them an IC Central Command warning and if they refuse to listen hand out appropriate punishments such as removal from the round at a worse scenario, temporarily banning them.

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do? I would go in teamspeak or other channels in an attempt to find an admin, if I fail to do so, I would go to the forums and simply create a report regarding the aforementioned players behaviour, and ask the authorities to hand out the appropriate punishment.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night? I would kindly ask them to stop. If they refuse, according to their earlier issues they would either receive a mute and warning, or if they were already warning regarding this punishment, a four hour ban at minimal could be considered appropriate, however if they do apologize before their ban expire the ban should be lifted off by the issuing admin.

Any additional information you'd like to add? There are some people in the staff that might remember me from NSS Staff, I used to be a head moderator (at the last stage of the server, head admin) then it died. It's also the first Colonial Marines server.

Edit #1: I forgot to add that I consider myself a competent coder, also willing to assist in a development way.

You seem promising. +1 on app, but I never seen you in game.

Neutral

Good answers and grammar, but poor temperament. The "your mom" answer could be better. A lot better. If you can't handle being heckled, you won't be a good admin or you won't last long.

If you dislike my forgiving methods I can be harsh aswell.

It's usually good for the server to be forgiving. Because only if you're forgiving you're liked and if you're liked as an admin the server's reputation will have a solid foundation.

The fact that you didn't understand what I wrote is pretty telling, too.

Oh well, a simple misunderstanding. Perhaps I've read it too fast. My apologies.

The answer to the said question can only be a placeholder simply due to the fact that there's so many variables that could change the verdict. I'm generally used to getting insulted due to the 1 year long moderatorship in Hypatia Station.
And infact I don't like handing out punishments for minor issues like those.

So far your responses to me have been calm and collected. You haven't lashed out at me. I'll remove my -1 and make it neutral.

If you consider yourself a competent coder, and want to apply for the Dev team, there's a slightly different process. Send me a message.

I would like to apologize and retract this application.

Upon further investigation of the playerbase of the server, I now believe that I may not be able to keep my temper. I most dearly apologize and wish you the best luck.

Have a nice day/week and future.
