-Yes, i've moderated a HRP gmod server for three months.

-I dont play any other server

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.


1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
-Take a look at his notes, if nothing comes up ask him if he is new to the server and mentor him/ask a mentor to teach him the ropes. if he wasnt new but he apologized when he shot leave it at an IC issue, if he did neither of that check the logs and apply the corresponding punishment (usually a warning and a note should be enough).


2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
-I dont think that this can happen anymore, even if a pred blows up on the almayer.
anyways, i'd fix the breach and Aheal affected people that hasnt been treated yet if the breach was made by accident or with malicious intent


3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
-Ask a mentor to teach him the ropes, if none are available mentor him myself.


4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
-Try to call him down and tell him that im the one handling his situation and my judgment as a moderator should suffice, if he has a behaviour of doing this kind of stuff, note him.


5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
-If someone Ahelped about his name, tell him to change it as it was famous enough for someone to recognize it, if there are any admins online ask them to change it on the spot, otherwise tell him to change it next round, make note about it.
If no one Ahelped about his name, discuss it with fellow staff on Msay.


6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
-Allow the MPs to handle the situation, check his notes, if he is new refer him to a mentor/mentor him myself


7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
-This isn't posible thanks to the skill system.
If it were possible i'd warn them that they are powergaming, check his notes for previous events of powergaming, apply the corresponding punishment


8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
-Come up with an IC reason for the marines or the aliens to attack, use Ares/CC or Queen mother announcements, if i cant come up with anything, SM the CO/aCO/Queen


9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
-Hostilities between CLF and Marines continue even after the round ends, so it doesnt count as EORG


10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
-Check his notes, if he has done this kind of stuff before, heavily warn him and apply a 3 hour ban.
If this is his first offense, warn him and note him.


11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
-Tell him that he broke the rule of improper escalation, warn him and note him, if he has already done this before, apply a 3 hour ban/24 hour ban depending on how he behaves


12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
-Ask them in Msay to handle it, if none are available @here on slack.


13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
-Banter is allowed, but if they over do it becomes LRP.
It also depends on the intent and the context, if they are spitting racial slurs just because they want to meme or be edgy, warn them and note them, if they did this before heavily warn them and apply a 3 hour ban.


14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
-This is clearly griefing, check his notes, investigate potential Ban-evading/Multikeying, apply a week ban/fill in perma.


15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
-PM him about it, check his notes and apply a Xeno Jban if they have done it more than once


16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
-Tell him that what they just did is LRP, warn them and note them if necessary.


17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
-Tell him that the xenomorph hivemind is just a translation of how they communicate and specific RP terms are not really necessary.


18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
-PM him and warn him about metagaming, if he has notes of powergaming as CO/XO/LT apply a Jban.


19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
-Depends on the context, if there is RP behind their actions, leave it as an IC issue, otherwise consider it griefing and heavily warn and note them/apply a 3 hour ban.


20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
-Tell him in Msay what they should have done/said, discuss it there or in slack


20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
Depends on the level of abuse, if it had a severe impact on the round without any reason behind it, (gibbing several xenos, spawning more larva, etc.) screenshot it, gather evidence and fill a staff report on the forums, otherwise just discuss it on slack or Msay.


21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
-*shrug

Any additional information you'd like to add?

-I love mentoring people, however im putting up this mod app because i want to help the server in any way i can.
(i would like to keep mentoring people though. Dont worry fellow mementors, i wont steal your mentor helps)

App overall looks pretty good, I'll leave a +1 for now but if I think of a good scenario later on I'll come back.

The responses all seem good, aside from 21, where you should say "no u" instead of "shrug." Elch is a good guy too, I'm sure he can handle it.

20a. You should bring it up with their manager.

Well looking through this I don't particularly see any major problems. Seems well made, questions are decent, any kinks can be worked out during a trial.

While most of the questions are admittedly barebones, they aren't incorrect. Outside of that i've got no issue with them, plus you're also a mentor so thats a +1 from me.

You would be best off explaining something like 8 to the player, and moderators don't have access to ares/cc announcements.
Besides that and what was pointed out by lordington,cool guy who like 2hu +1000.
Shouldn't be too much issue and you can ask about what you need to know or are uncertain, shouldn't be any issues with a trial period.

Answers seem good but I'd like to ask you a few questions anyways.

1. An engineer builds a sentry gun on the Almayer before first deployment. What do you do?

2. You see the CMP shooting an escaping marine with a pistol repeatedly. When questioned, he says that he was trying to arrest them but couldn't open his rig and couldn't stop him from running. What do you do?

3. A standard marine runs around with a flamer specialist helmet and pyro tank on his back. The flamer spec himself is long dead. What do you do?

1. I think that this wouldn't require more than a warning. If the squad is on FOB duty its the same as building it planetside (he'd only be saving time by doing that, wich could fall under powergaming, but again, i dont think that this is as serious as any other example of powergaming), on the other hand, if the squad went scouting maybe he built it so it'll be dragged to the FOB instead of the crate being left alone and gathering dust.

However this doesnt mean that i wouldnt investigate the situation, i would check his notes and ask him why he did it, if the scenarios are one of the above i would just let them go with a warning.

2. The CMP must follow marine law by the letter, arrests have to be done using non-lethals, saying that he couldnt open his rig is no excuse for him to blast a marine to death. I'd check his notes, if he had none, heavily warn and note them, if he had any note with this kind of behaviour apply a Jban

3. I dont really know how slots work, but being dead doesnt open up a slot does it?
If that were the case i wouldnt mind a boot having that gear, specs often hand over some of their stuff (sniper smocks being the most common) so looting a dead spec and having some of their gear isnt truly an issue. (as long as it isnt something like b18, wich i think boots cant even use anyways)

However, if slots opened with the death of a spec, i would bwoink that pfc and tell him to return the gear, as the next spec would need it, i'd warn them not to do that kind of thing again and note them depending on their behaviour.

1. Is indeed powergaming, good answer.
2. Is perfect but you may also want to look in to providing a timed ban alongside that depending on their notes and if the marine died or not.
3. IC issue. Death doesn't open up a new slot aye. If they can use it, go for it.
