Yes, I am currently a mentor for this server, and I used to staff a Minecraft server acouple of years back.

I dont really play any other SS13 servers. I used to play goon and /tg/ though.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
I would try to leave this as IC as I could, but I would Note/warn the guy doing it depending on his reasoning. If the man's note history isnt up to par I would give him a ban as well.


2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
This shouldn't really be possible to my knowledge besides the pred ship. If It does happen though I would try to seal it up and aheal those affected, but if I cant (Due to missing variables) I would ask an Admin in game or in Slack.

3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I would try and get him a mentor If none are available I would mentor them myself.

4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
I don't need to get them another staff member, I would tell them if they have a problem with my service to them I would suggest making a Staff Report.



5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would tell them to change it anyway as I deemed it unfit. and if they have a problem with it to make a staff report.


6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
IC, but I would keep an eye on them incase they do anything griefy


7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
This shouldnt be possible but I would tell them that they cant be doing that, warning them and giving them a note. Depending on note history a Job ban.

8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I would subtle message the queen/CO or Send them a message VIA High command/Queen mother

9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.

EORG doesn't apply when two factions are fighting each other at the end of the round.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
I would warn him and note him for LRP. If their note history is poor I would probably administer a ban.


11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
False escalation. I would warn the guy telling him he cant do that and noting him. If his note history is poor I would administer a ban.

12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
I would ask one thats ingame or call for one on slack.

13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
Depending on what was said I would note the guy making the comments possibly banning him based on note history.

14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
I would ban him and based on note history I would file for a perma.


15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I would ask around for a bit to confirm it wasnt an accident then note/warn the personing doing it and possibly applying a jobban based on note history.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.

Warn/note them for LRP

17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
This doesnt matter because the hivemind is basically just a translation to English so that we could understand it.

18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
I would ask him how he got the info about that and Note/warn accordingly.

19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
I would ask around for what happened and see if it was RP valid. If not I would note/warn him for Improper escalation possibly giving a ban based on note histroy.

20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I would message them in private to help them out, possibly informing their head depending on the situation.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.

I would inform the head staff they fall under to give punishment accordingly.


21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
This would fall under the don't be a dick rule and ask them to stop or further punishment might be needed (OOC Mute/warn/Note)

Though I like being mentor, I kinda just wanna move up in the food chain on the server and better help it out. A couple of months ago when I first became a mentor I planned on originally becoming a mod but my age kept me from doing so. Now I able to so I am doing it.

You try to figure out what happened and who caused what, but he is clearly upset and it’s hard to determine the seriousness of the situation due to the sheer amount of salt they are producing. How do you approach the situation?

Silly question, but I’d like to know your take on it. Regardless, You’re a good Mentor and a good person in general. You’ve been around for long enough to see how Moderating works, and as far as I know you haven’t caused any issues or major concerns. While i’m witholding my +1 till you answer my question, I have no doubt that this’ll be accepted, and you’ll be a fine mod. Anyways onto the question, I would try to calm them down a bit to give me a clear explanation of the situation and ask around for witnesses if his information doesn't get me very far. If asking doesn't get me far Ill have to look through logs to get an accurate read of the situation. Depending on what happened ill punish accordingly. Throughout the whole thing Ill try to make sure the person doesnt get too salty.

Really nice response. Remember if you’re unable to cool em’ down, you can apply a 3 hour ban for them to cool off. Generally speaking though, use that as a last resort and make note of it afterwards.

Well if it was just one comment it shouldn’t really be an issue but if the xeno says it constantly to every marine he kills or just keeps insulting the one marine I would pm him to stop as it violates the don’t be a dick rule, if he continues I would give him a look mute. Of course I would note him for the incident aswell.

Well with a new update I read this should t be possible anymore, but I would ahead the player affected and tell the doctor not to do it again if the doctor has bad note history I would possibly give a job ban. I would also note him for it, accident or not just Incase it happens again and it starts becoming an issue

Decent questionnaire -- not as good as I'd like to see from a mentor, really -- and to be perfectly honest I'd rather see you actually active again before putting a mod app in rather than just promising to be, although if it's school related and not just burnout then I suppose you don't really get a choice in it. Real life happens.

Shaky answer to Soldier's last question -- you can reasonably assume that if the doctor himself ahelps that it was a genuine mistake. You lose nothing by giving people the benefit of the doubt especially when they themselves tell you something's gone wrong, and I really don't like the idea that we'd be punishing people for owning up to accidents. I can't really imagine a note history bad enough that would make me ever think something like that was deliberate.

The answer is fine. However theres something lacking about the application as a whole and I just can’t put my finger on it so I’m going to be neutral for now.

Make because it used to happen all the time.

Most mods would ethier heal the victim or tell the victim it was an IC issue and malpractice and neglect issue on the doctors part.
