On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
Often, I currently am enrolled in online university, therefore most things I do are at home, so I am available at a moments notice daily, thus can be in the know at any time via Slack.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I've owned an SS13 private server for quite some time, but mainly used it as a means to help and mentor those around me to play better, I've been moderator for various STEAM groups as well as many Discords servers.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
Yes, I've played since the only map we had was Boxstation and the Almayer was quite smaller

Para, around 2016, for saying something rude to a trial admin who I had thought was being far too harsh over a non issue.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
I allow the RP to act out, perhaps the player had only accidentally misfired and thus caused the situation, and as long as no one has been killed at roundstart over it, the MPs and those involved will likely resolve the situation ICly and thus I will have no need to interfere unless it is needed of me./The player in question has a detailed history of doing so.

2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
I would repair the breach myself and notify those in Medical to recover those who are dead/dying ICly, if they are unable to revive them I will assess if I am to heal them myself.

3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
If no one else is currently available to help the player, I will PM them directions and mentor them so they can get accustomed, and make sure they feel welcome.

4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
I remain professional, give them a warning that they are violating Rule 3, and will inform them that I can help them just as well as any other staff member.

5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I inform them that it's always been a rule, and thus would change their name for them, and if I find them repeatedly breaking the rule they would get a warning.

6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
As this is mainly an IC issue, the MT has broken Marine Law and thus the MP's will handle him ICly, if at any time the situation gets worse, I will intervene accordingly

7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
The Medic's skill in Surgery is 1, thus they would not be able to do the action in the first place, but if they were, I would notify them that they are doing more harm and would kill the marine, I would note and warn them, and if they continue I would take action and job ban them.

8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I would alert both sides via IC to continue the attack on one another, if the round continues to drag on I would launch the dropships manually to get the Aliens on the Almayer for an attack, thus leading closer to round end and less stagnation.

9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I would inform the CLF that attacks between two hostile factions after round end is not against the rules.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
If no MP stops them ICly and they continue causing havoc I would PM them to stop immediately as they are causing major issues with others, and I would note them as a potential griefer, and ban them if they continue with it.

11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I would inform them lethal force is explictly prohibited without absolute RP reason, and a simple unarmed attack is not sufficient for lethal force, I would note them and ban them for a short duration if it was their first offense.

12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
I politely inquire if they could assist me, messaging for one via Slack, that I need the assistance and cannot take the specific action required.

13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
If the comment in question isn't explictly racist, bigoted, or homophobic I would tell the offended player that the player in question has not broken any rule and does not mean harm to them specifically, if it does indeed break rule 3, I would inform the player in question to stop using them, and if they continue I would ban them for a short duration

14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
I would investigate their notes and past actions, but if deemed on purpose/they were a repeat offender I would ban them straight away, as logging off ruins any sort of Admin intervention and only shows that the player in question had meant to cause havoc and had no care at all for the rules or consequences.

15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I would inquire with them about why they did so, and if accidental I would tell them to be more careful, if they do not listen to me I would take action, banning them from the role for a short duration.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
I would tell them to stop, as doing so is against the RP rules, and if they refuse to listen to me they are to be warned and noted, and banned if they still refuse to listen.

17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
I inform the complaining player that Xeno language is a direct translation of English, thus English phrases are the same as Xeno, so it is completely appropriate to call things Dropshop/Hydro/Landing Zone and so on.

18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
I would inform them that they should not be picking difficult roles if they are new and do not know the rules well enough to understand that they are to RP as being completely unknown to the Aliens on the planet. I would note them afterwords and monitor so it does not happen again.

19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
If it was a valid RP reason I would let it occur, as a life or death situation would be correct for Lethal Force.

20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I'd inform them about it, and help make sure it does not happen again, and for them to reread the rules so they have a better understanding for the future.
20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
I would inform an Admin+ about it, and let them handle it appropriately.

21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
I would ignore it unless he explictly harrasses someone in OOC and causes arguements in which I will tell him to stop and warn him.

So scimming through this my only real issue I personally have is that I have never in my life seen you before. We're on the same timezone yet I've never seen your character name before or even seen you talking in OOC. Forum activity is pretty low, although you've got an account from 2016.

Zanebot has a point. Your forum is pretty low for real even though you are an old player in the community. I've never seen you in game because I am online at weekdays 6 hours and weekends is 15 hours. I may not a former staff but as a player i am looking for a active staff/moderator at forum and in game.

Because after playing for so long for fun, I realize I want to now actively help further, by putting my time and effort in to help CM as a staff member, that I want to commit myself full time now, I'm ready to stay and do whatever it takes.

I warn and note the player, as they are both being a dick and abusing LOOC to harass a player, I would check their previous notes to see if they are a repeat offender, and if so take action accordingly.

While it is a genuine RP session and thus would normally be encouraged, an MP under no circumstances can be allowed to break Marine Law, so I would Warn the player and PM them to stop and let the arrested player go, and to never abuse their powers further, if their notes show a history of abusing the MP role they would get immediately job banned.

2. Yes, although others would argue "No victim no crime" MPs are held to a higher standard, unless an admin rules it permitted under the Rule 0 clause which you as a mod can't do. edit: Granted I dont think a job ban is needed, but as Omni said more of a "Hey don't do that again"

I don't like the answer to Soldier's second question. Rule 0 may be an admin specific thing by the letter of the rules, but discretion is as important a quality for moderators on CM as it is anywhere else. If nobody -- not even bystanders -- is/are being negatively affected by something that's technically against the rules, especially if it's actually centered around roleplay rather than some kind of mutual friends dicking about sort of thing.

At most I would send them a gentle PM to remind them that it's not OK, but I wouldn't punish them outright for a event that hasn't even caused any trouble. Player enjoyment and smooth gameplay/round flow always takes precedence over enforcing the rules right to the letter -- it might not be written down like that but I am firmly convinced that moderators, while not having overt access or privileges to use or invoke rule 0, should have the capacity to make an occasional judgement call and go very lenient indeed on things that are only technical rule breaks at best.
