On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
I usually play 2-3 games, maybe more so around 1-2 hours a day during the week and 5-6 on the weekend for a grand total of
around 20-25 hours a week.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
Nothing major but I was an event coordinator on a Gmod combine control server.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.

What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
I only really play CM. I try to get into the other servers but CM is the only one that keeps me.

From my memory, I've only been banned for 24 hours because I went SSD as a queen.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
First, I'd pull the logs of the incident and check who was targeted and if it was a misfire or malicious. Then I'd check notes of the player to see if he has had a history of this before. If it was indeed a misfire and very little history of this behavior, I'd warn them/issue a note and let the MPs deal with it. If it was malicious and the player has a history of being a shitter, I'd issue a 3 hour ban.


2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
The only way to breach the ship currently is through predator wristband explosion, which is an IC issue. Other than that, I believe these aren't possible.


3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
Refer them to a mentor if one is on. If one is not on, then I'd message them with a welcome and a link to the starter guide.


4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
Players are not entitled to speak to whoever they want. I'd warn the player to stop being rude and that he has to deal with me.


5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Check the notes to see if they are lying. If not, warn them to change the name to something else next round and note the incident.


6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
This is an IC issue. Let the MPs deal with it.


7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Not possible due to current mechanics.


8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Send an High Command/Queen Mother announcement urging the sides to wrap it up.


9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I'd tell the player that hostiles are stilled considered hostile when the round ends.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
Since there is a need to cut down on round start shittery, I'd check the players notes first to see if they have a history of this. If they do, I'd apply a 3 hour ban or day ban depending on the notes. If there are no notes, I'd let them off with a warning and note it.

11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
A case of improper escalation. Inform the player of their rule break, warn them about it and note it. If they have a history of it, apply a ban depending on the history. I'd then aheal the other marine.


12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
I'm guessing this is where slack comes into play. If so, I'd use that to inform any Admins of the issue.


13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
Racism is fine IC as long is it isn't done in a overbearing way. I'd tell the offended player that this is allowed in an IC nature and that it's fine as long as it doesn't get out of control.


14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Check the notes of the player to see if he has a history. If not, apply a day ban and note it. If he does have history, apply a 7 dan ban.


15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
First of, as always, check the notes of the player to see history of this behavior. If he does, apply a job ban to xeno. If he does not, warn them that the next time they make an infringement like this, a ban would follow. Note it afterwards.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
Tell the player to cease their low rp shittery. Apply a note and warn if there's no history. If there's history, issue a 3 hour ban depending on the notes.


17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
Tell the complaining player that the hivemind is an interpretation of what the xenos perceive, so it's okay to call things their proper name as long as they don't meta the exact function. (APCs and such)


18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
Tell the command staff player that they don't know anything at all about the alien infestation and warn him for meta followed by a note. If he has a history of this, apply a job ban to command roles.


19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
Check the logs to see how it was RPed out. If it was RPed out properly, it's an IC issue. If it was done is a shitty way, IE walking up and just shooting the player, warn them with a note.


20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
Notify the fellow staff member of his misinformation.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
Notify the staff members head of the power abuse.


21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
Not if I tell him what I did with his mom first!

I know I haven't been very active at all on the forums, but I always come back to CM. Sometimes I need a break, especially since school started and I recently had some personal stuff happen, which causes me to detach from CM. However, I noticed the need for moderators and I thought that I'd have played long enough to have a firm grasp on the CM rules.

1. Moderating, to me, is about ensuring an experience can be delivered without collapse. CM, from what I can gather, has been around for years. It's all thanks to members who volunteer their time for the sake of the player and the longevity of the server. That's why I'd like to be a moderator; to help the longevity of CM.

2. Because the player stepped in front of the other player who was in mid-burst, it is entirely that players fault for getting decapped. I'd PM the player telling them that they should be more mindful of their surroundings, and try not to step in front of marines actively shooting.

3. The player has no right to demand bans over other players. Since I've already investigated and decided the best course of action was a warning ( assuming they have no history of this ), I'd tell the player that the offender was handled according to the severity of the crime, and no ban is necessary.

4. Well, since the doctor is injecting marines with contraband drugs and assuming they haven't ODed anyone, it is an IC issue that can be resolved by the MPs and CMO.

Then I'd tell him next time to grab the MPs, and note the incident.

While not really my place to comment, I'm going to.

I agree completely with this however, Ultrazine is highly addictive and if they don't get more they can become seriously ill/injured with no cure possible excluding continual intake of Ultrazine so that should be taken into account, it is similar to forcing someone to take space drugs and hallucinating, disorientation and other detriments from drugs like this are grief, I do not know if forced ultrazine counts but it might be worth thinking about.

The player may have had a staff member ok their name in the past, however, that doesen't mean he doesen't have to change his name. If he is requested to do so, he has to. He is free to appeal it on the forums.

If he has a history of it, place a 7 day ban and file for a perma ban request.

If they give incorrect information you can give them the right info. If they incorrectly enforce a rule, let your immediate supervisor know and throw it up the chain of command.
