Mizari - Moderator Application

Post by Mizari » 08 Jun 2015, 15:37

Byond ID: Mizari

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Timezone: GMT +0

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? 30 hours and above, weekends vary.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? Yes, I've been a proffessional Game Master for a game called Face of Mankind.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? None.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before? Yes (Was told to re-apply in future)

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? No

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? Yes

If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?: I would begin by contacting the player and asking what was going on and wait for a response. If he/she chose not to respond then I would follow up with a Second PM asking them to respond otherwise I'd be forced to punish them. If no response was given then I would follow on with a ban for griefing of up to 24 hours. If the player did decide to respond then I would ensure what exactly was going on and check the relevant logs to have a better understanding of what was going on and explain to player assuming they are in the wrong that he is breaking server rules and that a punishment must be issued which a 24 hour ban would ensure for griefing, including adding the information to his notes.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender? I would attempt to seal the breach and if I am unable to do so, contact someone else who would be able to, preferably an admin. After doing so, I would message the player and inquire as to why they were breaching and explain to them that they cannot breach unless they can seal it straight away. I'd give a warning and add a note on their username, if continued follow on with a more serious punishment.

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do? Inform the marines via a Central Command announcement that we are paying them to get the job done with minimal damage and to stop slacking and ensure they complete their task with as little damage as possible.

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do? PM the player asking what he is doing first of all as they could be mutineer against Command and if so it would be an IC Issue. If no realistic reason is given then I would follow on with a 24 hour ban for griefing and add it to his notes.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night? - Ignore the player and if continued, follow on with a warning and then a mute if he continued to cause problems.

Any additional information you'd like to add? I am aware my previous record is not clean and I said I would re-apply once I can prove that I am able to abide by the rules. I honestly believe I can be a great asset to the team if given the chance. I thank you for taking the time to read this application.

Butter, you don't have an actual "say" on who gets hired and who doesn't. However, all members of the community are welcome to give their input.

Judging from notes... He's been warned for Netspeak only by me... Other than that... You're fine.. EXCEPT.. You don't have forum activity. You're too Unknown. Too UNKNOWN. However, it's understandable that forum does not really needs our eyes to see, however as a staff.. It would be a MUST.

I completely understand that forum usage is a must for holding a staff position and as such I am willing to forum warrior and play the game. Looking forward to any more input you may have.

Neutral for now. The whole 24 hour ban thing is sort of.... Eh, I am debating on what my stance is on this.

I understand your hesitance and completely understand why it is so, however in my defence, I have played for over 4 months now without any further infractions which hopefully proves that I finally understand the meaning of the rules and I truly believe I can help the players who also do not understand the rules. I know what it was like when I first started out so maybe I can relate to them in that regard.

You are one of the most frequent people to report others breaking or violating rules. What gets me is your Medical Question. You would only punish the Marine and take no investigation as to where the grenades came from, or who made them, or if they were even allowed to make them. Yeah, then there is that lack of forum posting.

You misunderstand what I meant by my answer Vrai, what I was trying to say is that I would follow the same protocol in regards to the person shooting in briefing, isolating the player/investigating and then follow through with a punishment. Assuming they were authorized/no mutiny is in progress and no Xeno's are present, it would be evident that it looks like griefing but sorry for the confusion, investigation and talking with said player first would be my main way of handling most things in general.

Hopefully that clears up my answer a bit. As for the forum posting, I'm able to get said activity up if that is required of me but my main concern right now is the actual game server. I understand that forum work will come into it but hey, I can do it given the chance. Again thanks for the opinion.

I dunno .. Has a ban record, little forum activity, and veeery neutral answers .. Doesn't convince me that he's very experienced. Neutral for now.

Indeed I can understand that Apophis, as I have mentioned and since I've been made aware that it is such a requirement, I have been active since being made aware and will continue to do so.

Just wondering on the status of my application? Didn't want to ask but after consulting with staff on the server, they said just to ask here.

Usually, staffs are accepted or denied together to make it faster. You'll have to wait on other applications I suppose or until SAS does it on a whim.

The forum activity seems okay with 41 posts, and activity is nice, but the questions seemed vague and glossed over. Improve them and I'll change my answer, but for now, it's -1.
