Johners12345 - Moderator Application

Post by johners12345 » 20 Jul 2015, 21:35

Byond ID:
Johners12345
Colonial Marines Character:
Curtis Weeter
Age:
16
Gender:
Male
Timezone:
Eastern Standard Time
On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?

62-71 Hours A week
To be specific of my times I can NOT be on
I have sessions with my mentor for one hour. Every other Tuesday.
I can not guarantee i'm on at Sunday from anywhere from 10 am ESTto 2-4 PM EST
I've also took off a few hours to possibly be on. In case of a friend or family occasion.
I also have A meeting session on Wednesday's 7-9 and a other meeting once per a month from 7-9 each time On An Thursday

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?

I Have had staff abilities for thirty minutes on ss13. This was While helping on a test server. I would still need time to get use to the verbs and have a crash course so to speak on how to use them. I've had minor experience as a staff experience on certain games and I'm sorry to say it.. Roblox. For some friends

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before?
No
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
No
If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?

As this is the round start. this very much is griefing. I would admin kill them Before pm'ing them on the situation and of why they did this. If they proceeded to cuss me out before leaving. I would have a higher up give them a temporary ban, and have a note attached to their account. Concerning this. While leaving my self a personal note along with their name in case I deal with them once more. If I find out that somehow. This wasn't grief. I would warn them of this and place a note on their account. While directing them to the rules and what is expected of them.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender? I would see why they did this, If this was accidental. I would admin kill them as a punishment since they can easily be resurrected as a new alien if the queen and the rest of the hive are fruitful in their reaping. If they gave poor reasoning but did not show possibility of malicious intent. I would have a note attached to their account of this incident. Saying for them to be watched if possible for future incidents.I would Direct them to the rules just to be safe and. Again, along with a personal note for my self. Possibly give them a warning if this was not a first time incidence or I have reason to believe slight malicious behavior was involved I would give them a warning and keep watch on them until the end of the round if possible. If this was Definite malicious and they did not cuss me out. I would direct them to the rules and than have a higher up place ban Depending on the given set time for a ban ( I do not know this as i have not seen the ban rubric) . Along with placing a note of the incident on their account. If They cussed me out most of the time or were just outright disrespectful and such. The same as above with a more severe temporary ban Once again, within the given time Depending on the rubric.

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do? Due to the existing ruling put in place about this. I would make a announcement to their head set Along the lines of they are COLONIAL marines, There is nothing that can stop them and such. If They Continue to press. I would make a announcement concerning some ''incident'' Of blue-space messaging or that someone mis-placed the code and until further notice they are to continue fighting valiantly. IF they Ahelp this. I would hint if not needed tell them. Of how they are technically winning, and to keep going until there is literally almost none of them left. If they are being over run. A simple shuttle call will be given.

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do?

This depends on the situation, If this is because there are aliens in there along with no marines and they are being over run. I can see slight reasoning for this.. I would still pm them afterwards to be more careful in their decision making with napalm grenades. If this was when no aliens were on board. I would admin kill them and pm them on this. Where as Depending on how they accept being talked to. E:i Cussing, dis respectfulness and evading questions. I would place a small warning, put a note on their account and such. However before doing this. I would ask who made them, once finding it was a medic I would pm the medic For doing this. As it's their job to make medicine. Not dangerous weapons of destruction and death. I would direct them to our rules, place a note and warning on their account for power-gaming medical and such. Than allow them to move on, If they are disrespectful during this and such. Along with if the rubric allows it. They may receive a temp ban if they have been acting malicious with such during this.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night?

As Said by the games admin command. Man up, and deal with it. Move on. It's a game.. on the INTERNET the practical birthplace Of Saltiness about moms. If it does get bad enough. I would get a higher up to mute them. If they proceed to byond message me. I will simply ignore it. If anything, They can continue to hate. I would just shut off my byond until i was sure they stopped ( this is due to byond messages lagging me)

Any additional information you'd like to add?

Due to Some Childhood learning issues. I do have a bit of a issue with grammar and such. However I do speak English moderately well. I'm also terrible with creative formatting and I tend to freestyle type unless given a set format type to use. I was also active for a bit a while ago. However i had to take a three month break, Due to some family Issues and such between my parents. This however has been solved to a satisfactory point That i can guarantee to be around. I've also been getting used to this forum, as I was used to it when it was still a part of New Eden. I also am running a slow computer at the moment so i may have to relog, or be slow if it's with a tab. I also apologize if at points i do not make sense. I had to back track a bit in what i was saying as I was typing, so I may have along the way. Lost my point. If There is something that doesn't add up. I will be glad to explain my self and if needed Fix it. Thank you for reading this and considering me and have a nice day/night.

Do us a favor and separate the question and answer from each other.

On another note, did you happen to read sword's application before you applied?

Apologies, hope that fixes it slightly.

I've read multiple applications to know What was expected of me between answers ( plus out of pure curiosity after have been gone for a bit) . I tend to try and please people as much as possible. However If you believe I copied the multiple applications answers, Than proceeded to mix and match them to look like my own. I can gladly tell you This is false, as I have answered in truthfulness of what I would do. Though i do not hold it against you if this somehow influences your rating of me. Or your decision.

I just wanted to make sure. It sounded like your application was influenced by his a bit, specifically the answer to the first question and the fourth question (grief question and sulaco medic question). You didn't copy him, it just sounded kind of similar to his and I just finished responding to his so I noticed some similarities.

Anyway, your application was alright (besides the formatting being a mess). I'm neutral to you becoming a trial. If you do become one I'm sure you'll do fine, but you don't seem to give off an exceptional quality kind of feel; a bit... rough around the edges, for lack of a better term. However, the activity you promised to give to the server (around 40-45% of the week) is impressive and it would be nice to have someone to fill in our grey hours.

Once again, I'm neutral.

Thankyou for your honesty, You pretty much summed up my whole life with this. ''don't seem to give off an exceptional quality kind of feel; a bit... rough around the edges, '' I can promise i'm not gonna be the ultimate savior of everything. all I can really promise is my time and devotion. This server has a LOT of promise, and I wanna help that future a bit. Also yes.. I have LOTS of time.. I don't necessarily have a life during the summer. Plus The internet is what keeps me sane ironically So I hope I can make you proud with any progress. Also Yes, as I said with the formatting, I'm VERY bad with improvising in this way and I tend to freak out if I have NOTHING to relate to with the thing occurring. Especially with formatting... Especially when i have to keep backtracking as i just did.. But once again. Thankyou

If you ever have formatting questions in the future feel free to ask me by the way. I don't mind helping out with that kinda stuff.

The earnest responses you've provided have given me a more positive outlook on your app. People who are "rough around the edges" need to be smoothed out by those around them. With this in mind, the dedication you seem willing to give would provide you time to iron out the problems that may be ailing you at the moment. Although I do recommend dropping some of the melodramatic comments like "You pretty much summed up my whole life with this."

I'm willing to support this guy becoming a trial mod. +1 from me now.

I would love to have formatting help sometime. It's the bane of my existence on the internet. I COULD say i could give more time. However at the current, I've been having sleep issues. So I haven't been getting up till 12 pm and I stay up till 1 am or such. So I DO lose some hours between that.SO I gave the bare minimum That i could give. Also Yes I do realize I'm a bit melodramatic. It's sort of part of my personality. Most likely if you asked anyone that knew me. They could say i'm very dramatic, along with having this sort of laid back funny personality.. From my self.. I barely ever give a opinion of my self. However I will try very much to be ''less'' Melodramatic and to impress you. But anyway again. Thank you for your honesty and I hope we get to meet some time soon in game and chat :)

You were smart and definitely looked back on previous applications. You responses aren't bad, but they aren't anything overly great.

The issue that I think most people are overlooking is your activity. While you do have quite a few post on the forums you've only become active again in the last 2 days, most likely due to the Alpha testing. Your last post before that was all the way back in March.

So while you do have forum activity, it's not recent and you haven't been involved in the community for awhile.

-1 Just solely based on the fact that you returned for Alpha and immediately applied for Moderation, spend some time back in the community.

( apologies if this looks weird. To my windows version This is easier for myself to read and i'm trying different ''formats'' Anyways. On with the post!

I appreciate and accept your truthfulness and If I may. I would like to explain my self. I had long been considering

becoming a moderator on here Since back in march. However around the time I was going to. My parents decided for a

custody battle, ending with me away from my devices and my house. I only recently got back home and than Had device

issues of which were fixed about a week ago. While I can see that you think I returned for the alpha. I was actually

scrolling by New eden when I found out that Colonial marines had split. This OVERWHELMED my curiosity to the point of

insanity and after finding you had transferred to a very own site for Colonial Marines. I decided to revisit and see if

anything changed. I had than saw there was the words ALPHA testing and was curious to see what this was, only to find

out it was a whole new map ( Which by the way. VERY MUCH astounded me and overwhelmed me to the point of freaking

out and ghosting after being un-succesful in doing anything. I than explored and returned the next day. I will admit. I am

VERY MUCH astounded by the Alpha map and it's coding. It's genius, and I had been LONG awaiting a ground map since it

was first mentioned. But I have always loved CM and While it's fan base is EXTREMELY salty. To the point you could over

dose on the sodium.( I will admit there is some sugar in there) I've loved it and have grown attached to just as much as i could be. I intend to get back in with the community and i'm hoping that on the last day for the original map. We do some

sort of send off event. I've grown VERY attached to it and i'm almost sad to see it go.. I would be if it weren't for the fact it lags me like nothing else. I don't expect you to change your opinion. I just only hoped to explain my self.Anyways. Again, thankyou for your honesty and such.

Comrade, I am going to just be purely frank and go out on a limb and say I call utter BS that you would put in the hours you say here. When I was a admin and I was not 100% ALWAYS busy I was on server soon as I woke up to when I went to bed and I did not even leave my computer to eat. And even at the end of the week I put in about 90-100 hours I was waking up at 10 AM getting on and leaving at 4 AM
Now in addition your age seems rather... Concerning since your bare minimum on that however I am willing to give you a chance given the following reasons: You seem rather content to doing this given your in detail responses within reasonable times. You have been around for a.... Not really long time but a while, My other concern is the fact that you would have school when summer vacation ends however so long as you put in time and are active I won't care. +1 from me. I will wait for some more staff input before my final decision

I will be honest. That first part made me laugh. Yes, I most likely will be coming on as soon as i wake up, To the point where i would go to bed. At this moment that is 11:21 Am, To 12-1 am. If I ever get up from my chair, It's to get something from the fridge that is 8 feet away. Or private stuff, Which is 15 feet away. I very rarely do outside stuff Which is why i gave my self more of a minimum. Since it's VERY rare for stuff with friends to happen. I tend to wanna enjoy it. Along with School. I would be getting out by 3:00 Pm. Most likely home by 3:30-3:35 pm. Than most likely coming on this while i do homework. I usually only do JUST the project. IF IT's a major one. I would also most likely be staying until 9-11 Pm. This way I have enough sleep to get up at 6 Am. On Saturday I would have my Summer schedule. On Sundays. There are still no promises from 10 Am to 2-4 Pm. I am glad that you have trust in me. I am very much willing to test the strength of my blade.. Or rather the caliber of My digital gun. On how i can help the fan base. Thank you.

Answers are still painful to read IMO, in that they are kind of unecessarily long.. And you put periods eveywhere and break up the sentences randomly. The way you've written them isn't bad it's just very confusing and gives me the impression that you'll overthink situations when you do become staff.

Neutral for the moment.
