OneOneThreeEight/Delta's returning mod app

Post by 1138 » 13 May 2016, 13:54

Byond ID: OneOneThreeEight

Colonial Marines Character: Korban Norecur

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Timezone: EST

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?: Variant, some weeks I work 2 days out of a week at my job and some weeks I can work a total of 6-7.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?: Yes. I casually managed a SC2 custom game community back in the day and I also staffed here with you folks before.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?: Yes. I played since before the Alpha back when we had the Nostromo.

What other servers do you play on?: Aurora, bit of Hippie and some of Urist McStation.

What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?: Hippie, Aurora, Urist.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before?: Yes.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?: No.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?: I don't recall.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)?: I was once banned for end of round grief a year ago on Aurora for misinterpreting my laws as a cyborg.

Are you familiar with Slack (It's use is required)?: I'm not familiar.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.

1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.

Depends on the situation. If it's a misfire, it's a misfire. If it hits someone, it's still just a misfire but with a potential casualty. Can be dealt with ICly, but if it escalates to unreasonable murder or maiming (because beginning of round teamkilling is unfair for the other player), then I would personally start investigating and then I would make a decision from there.

2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.

If it's alien-caused, repair it, warn the alien that caused it to not do it again. Ban if they were warned already for it before. If a marine caused it, then tough luck

3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.

Denied. RP it that they have a lifesign scanner and are detecting X amount of aliens left and that the remaining marines need to push it and complete the mission, or they aren't going home.

4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.

Hold the individual marine responsible for their actions, kindly advise the researcher to be more cautious as to who exactly to give grenades to in the future, though I'm not strictly barring them from making more napalm grenades.

5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.

I wouldn't be bothered by it if it's a joke or even an insult. If it's intending to rile me up and harass, then I'd pass the case off to someone else so they can deal with them. If no one else is around, I'd toggle off their adminhelp perms for the rest of the round as a result of the interface abuse and update their notes to reflect it.

6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.

Bwoink him, inform him of the rule, explain why the rule's there, then ask if he would like his character name changed to something else. If he doesn't give a name, he gets Blast "Beef" Porkchunk. Barring that, a randomly generated name.

6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.

Rules are rules, there's no argument in this case because proper naming conventions set the tone and setting for an High-Action RP environment.

7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.

Bwoink him and remind him of his duties. Kindly warn+note him if he understands, job-ban if he doesn't. Escalate appropriately based on player note history.

8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.

I can't say it's really powergaming. They have a general understanding of biology and how medicines work, so if there are no other available doctors and that option has been exhausted, even then the rule still stands about squad medics not being able to do surgery. They can do triage and stabilization, but that and only that. It's sad and I sort of disagree with it, but it cannot be helped.

9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?

Give the marines intel that there are very few aliens left and that only a couple biosigns remain. Inform them that they don't get to go home until they gun down every last non-human contagion.

10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.

If the EOR rule has been reminded of over OOC, go banning. If nobody has been warned, make sure the individuals are spoken to and reminded of the rule.

11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.

Effectively harmless. The MPs should go and deal with it.

12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.

Teamkilling isn't acceptable over just a punch. Warn/ban based on prior player history.

Any additional information you'd like to add?

You can probably just hit up Apop and he'll pull you out of retirement. You don't need to go through the app system.
Goes better with soup.
