I am the staff member in question

At the time where forcefully ending the round was considered, the Xenomorphs had been totally routed and the last Xenos on the planet cornered and destroyed, leaving them with only a single Drone on the ship that promptly evolved into a Queen

After discussing it with other admins, I decided to just detonate the ship, further reinforced by the desire of another admin to run an event round during the next round, as I expected the round might drag on for long for no good reason, especially since the Queen seemed content to ovi up and wait while I was still observing it

There was also the worry of a larva bursting and further bouncing back the round, as there were probably infected people about after the final push

After a bit of fiddling, I simply hit the button to detonate the Almayer. This was one of many options to instantly end the round, like deleting the Queen, blowing stuff up manually, or just hitting Restart

There might have been a bit of extra button pressing, as I was trying to figure out if I could have the SD go off without pressing the instant detonation button, but it was all in the interest of ending the round immediately

I was the pizza, and the round ended before I got to the Almayer. It was my first time as pizza, and i'm sad it happened, but this sort of thing just has to be sometimes. We want events to occur at opportune times (mainly primetime EST I gather), and frankly events take priority over anything else in my opinion, but that's just me.

I don't think this was uncalled for at all.

Considering it seems like the round was basically over anyway, I'm not seeing any problems with this.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with this. The round was on the verge of being overextended, and there was an event planned for the next round.

Resolved.
