Abussive Battlefield Execute

Post by Chatillon » 01 Dec 2018, 07:05

Your Byond Key: Ventyas

Your Character Name: Renaud 'Sierra' Chatillon

Accused Byond Key(if known): Vampmare

Character Name: Henry 'Leo' Barnes

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central US Time for fastest results):5:30 more of less CST, 12:30 GMT+1

What rule(s) were broken: Rule 16. Battlefield Execution - Whitelisted Commanders are allowed to instantly kill any player at any time if the player fulfills the conditions found in Marine Law. Excessive or poorly-reasoned battlefield executions (such as BEing MPs over a valid arrest) may end with the Commander being removed from the whitelist.

Description of the incident: The RO was clearly a baldie doing shit in req, lots of marines were a bit upset about her work. So we were arguing about punching her. but the CO decided to BE her.

In that case, demote and brig would have been LARGELY suffisent, and you could also have request a mentor to help the RO. However, the choose of BE is:
First, Low RP as hell (Will an officer BE someone for insults? or insub? Never.) and Commanding Officer is supposed to be High RP.
Second, is soft grief because you had other way to deal with the problem than end the round of this player:
Rule 4. No griefing - Griefing is the intent of one player wanting to cause grief or annoyance to other players or the server without a valid roleplay reason. If Staff believes that the player’s intent is to grief, then action will be taken whether or not it was the player’s intent. Any damage to the station or players caused by griefing can be repaired at an Admin's discretion. If you are being griefed, don’t retaliate - Adminhelp it and you’ll get healed. Shooting a griefer can cause you to get in trouble as well, and the combat logs you’re generating make it harder for Staff to prove who the real griefer is.

BE is supposed to be a fast alternative on the battlefield (that's why we call it BATTLEFIELD exec) and not the one and mighty answer to all the things against Marine law that can happen on the ship. Moreover, I'll add that there was some MPs present on the ship and that they would have been enough.

If we refer to marine law, we have:

Insubordination Failing to follow a lawful order from a superior. Using offensive names or being directly disrespectful to someone of a higher rank or position. Each offense stacks. (Max charge 10mn)

Disrespecting a superior Officer Using offensive names or being directly disrespectful to someone of a Commissioned Officer of higher rank or position. Each offense stacks. (30mn max)

TOtal is a 40mn brig at MAX (with potential demote), why would you BE someone for 40mn minute brig?

PS: I've been ahelping and MVP777 told be to make a report on the forum

How you would punish the accused: Warn at least, maybe removal of the Whitelist.

Rule 6 is in effect. If the original victim intends to make a player report on this situation, they may do so.

Resolved - Rule 6 violation.
