Dead NPC colonists are too unscratched.

Post by Dude4Life » 13 May 2016, 17:12

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): So, the thing is that the dead NPC colonists are too healthy or unscratched, no injuries, no wounds, those who are in the pre-generated nests have no chest holes, overall perfectly healthy. I'm proposing for the dead NPC's to be changed into a more wounded state, scratches on the head, arms, wherever and those who are spawned in the nests, they should have chest holes etc.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This would make all the atmosphere more immersive instead of the dead colonists being spawned perfectly untouched but blood and gore all around.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Most, if not everyone spawned dead should have different wounds on their body: head, limbs and the like + chest holes from a larva for some, escpecially those dead colonists in the caves, in the pre-generated nests. I know this is quite a low-priority suggestion, but it would just help with the immersion.

It wouldn't be too hard to make a proc that mutilates bodies.

+1 on this one.

(They didn't died of poisoning or a similar thing... Changing this would improve immersion and make the scene much more realistic and credible.)

+1. Let's have more mauled and broken dead bodies, please. My irrational need for violence, blood, and gore is disappointed in our current dead colonists.

+1, it's a bit immersion breaking when I see the Corporate Stooge in the IA/Corporate dome; and it's a relatively minor thing to implement.

I like the idea, however I think it was discussed a while back that the reason this couldn't be done, was because of how bodies or something are spawned. If it's possible, yea, plus 1. I'll take a human torso in the nexus, with it's guts trailed behind it please.

+1 I enjoy being immersed in the game, and when us marines are called to a colony that supposedly is in trouble, and we get there and see all this debris and blood and gore, and then see the dead colonists looking like they just sat down for an afternoon nap, it kinda breaks that immersion for me.

We've tossed around making them (clothes included) as one object. It would also cut down on items spawned at round start.

If not this, at least add more blood trails or a few body parts in the nexus. Broken glass, things that imply a struggle or fight. That kind of thing.

I think there aren't that many NPC corpses lying around anymore (nexus scientists seem to have disappeared). Most of them are in the caves where they're far away from the action. Brutally mutilated corpses south of the river would really be a nice, small addition to the map.

It wouldn't be. Besides, the clothes are blood-stained, goop-crusted, and have a gaping hole in the chest. Let's not forget what happens to the digestive tract when someone dies.
