+1, but I would also add the following:

#1: While stationary for 1+ seconds, you can toggle on Focus Aim special action (whether zoomed in or out).

#2: Once Focus Aim mode is toggled on, you can select a target Xeno to be aimed at by clicking on it; subsequent clicks in Focus Aim mode fire the sniper rifle as usual. While a Xeno is targeted in this way there may be a red laser pointer/dot decal placed on it, serving as a 'warning' to get into cover.

#3: Shots made while aim is focused in this way ignore all Mobs but the target, are perfectly accurate against the target and gain bonuses to damage and armour penetration against it. These bonuses scale up over 2 seconds up to a maximum, reflecting the impact of finesse and hitting a vital spot (similar to the 'charge' mechanic seen in sniper rifles in many other games like TF2), and are reset upon firing.

#4: If the target Xeno breaks LoS, you toggle off Focus Aim mode, or you move/take any actions other than firing or zooming in or out, the benefit is lost and Focus Aim mode ends. Essentially you are exchanging the superior DPS and mobility of continual firing for more spike damage and the ability to ignore FF at the risk of losing said spike damage if your aim gets interrupted.

+1, sniper is very weak iv never seen any get a kill on CM, also with NV goggles sniper will serve its main objective which is to recon, also its not popular becuz its powerful? its the weakest spec option besides b18, its popular becuz the snowflakes love being different, infact just put a rail scope on an m4 and bam ur a better sniper than the spec

When aiming with M42C/A sniper rifles, no/way less FF

Post by Abbysynth » 09 Nov 2016, 12:02

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): When you're zoomed out with a sniper rifle, if you click 'take prisoner' and target someone or something, when it locks in the target it should ignore friendly fire for that shot and -also- have a high chance of missing any other targets along the way.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Make Snipers Great Again

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): I think this would still have the feel of 'static, long range weapon' while cutting down a lot of the frustration that makes people not want to pick the sniper spec. It's considered one of the weakest choices mostly because everyone runs in your way all the damn time. The targetting icon is big and obvious to xenos, and the delay typically gives them plenty of time to hide behind a corner to avoid getting nailed.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): When 'locked on' to a target, using a sniper rifle, change the ammo type to friendly-fire safe and then reset it after the shot is fired OR the lock on is lowered, ie you dropped your gun or they went out of sight. Hip firing = still FF, no lockon = fires as usual.

Yes please. I've found snipers incredibly hard to use well, and even if you're really good with one, you're not going to do nearly as much as somebody with a SADAR or similar.

This thing still alive?
On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Snipers stun T1-2 Xenos

Post by Crab_Spider » 20 Dec 2016, 08:57

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): If a sniper spec hits T1 - T2 Xeno, the xeno is immediately stunned from the sheer force of the bullet.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Other than how mach 2 speed would knock anything of such a size over, a stun buff for snipers makes Sniper Specs a useful asset for the Marines.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): From all ranges, when a sniper bullet from any gun of that fits the class (SVD Dragonuv and M42c anti-tank rifle included) hits a tier 1 to 2 xenomorph, the xeno is immediately KO'd as if they were point blanked with buckshot, but the stun lasts for 5 seconds or less, depending on age.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Splice the buckshot stun script into the script for snipers (minor coding; I think)

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Well if it can be coded to only knock over runners, hunters, sentinels, spitters and drones, then +1.

What MrJJJ said; The picture isn't up to date or relevant as it actually intends to show them as T2 instead of T3.

Furthermore, if you call Hivelords T3 and get me killed I will hunt you and nest you... Snakelord lives matter.
But in all seriousness, this stupid issue got me killed once or twice. Hivelords and carriers are T2; Drones don't have a T3 beside the Queen which doesn't count in the pool.

Also, +1. Even if snipers would get much more lethality from this, it's needed.
PS: I'll regret that +1 when playing pred.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

+1 This would be great, as it is, if you aim your shots you CAN pin down up to 3-5 xeno at once, potentially putting them all in crit, but this is something I've only ever achieved once. Making this achievement easier for players would make it more useful and more user-friendly.

I am personally very fond of the sniper rifle and have been trying to get some good use out of it, which led me to pinning down two runners, two crushers and a drone in the tunnel nex to the crashed shuttle, all on my own.

Just don't forget the weapon is still good, people just don't use it.

I fought a pred as a sniper spec once, in the end it was my boot knife that did a better job than the gun, knocked him out in one slash and 4 pages of combat logs later he died to it. Sniper has terrible accuracy versus preds unless YOU are hunting them.

Right so, I think this addon would work for recon and marksman.

Recon should get Night Vision Goggles as it's more of an assault/support class.

Marksman should have a Night Vision Scope as it's more of support class and maybe an eliminator.

A quick rephrase, my +1 for the general subject is in favor of a Marksman NVG SCOPE, I don't play Recon enough to give input for that. NVGs overall would be somewhat OP, as it would allow the Marksman to go Sniper Elite, NVGs would let them spot anybody trying to flank them so they can pull out their secondary in time along with giving them the ability to hunt LITERALLY ANYTHING...So the limited view scope would be a nice addition that has the nerfs of requiring you actually look down the scope.

Well. Something I like to do as a hunter is repeatedly pounce flares until they are way out of sight of the marines.

I say +1 to this. If it turns out that it makes the sniper ridiculously overpowered then it can always be reverted.

goggles would be op, but a nv scope would be allright. Make it so that it needs to be recharged, by putting in powercells, or giving sniper a recharger that runs on powercells. Generally, +1
