Landing indicator.

Post by Jaketeaking » 01 Oct 2016, 18:25

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
a flashing indicator on the LZ's corners, to indicate when the Rasputin or pod is coming down.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
less gibbed marines.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
when the shuttle control panel is activated, activate this indicator for in transit. can just be something turning off and on. also, improves accessibility for any hard of hearing players we may have. can either be a red light, just a warning panel like the sulaco display boards, or something else, so long as there is a visual indicator for you to get off the LZ.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
N/A
The man known as James 'patch' Alfonse. also gets called hotdog and "lemon.
"Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do, and they will surprise you with their ingenuity" - General George S Patton

I just stay the fuck off of where the shuttles land but I wouldn't mind this due to my shitty hearing, Though I agree with the above mention of aliens. Perhaps only activate it when the soundbyte begins playing? +1 if so.

At least have this landing indicator be implemented for Cargo shuttle. I saw marines getting gibbed in Cargonia standoffs vs Xenos when the RO called the shuttle before they retreated to the shuttle bay, but RIP the marines who had no idea.

Pretty much this.

Back then, when I started playing, there wasn't a sound for the dropship. At some point they added it in, and you can hear it from quite a ways.

Unless you have music blaring into your ears, keep an ear out for it and keep away from the landing pad.

If you don't to get squished either listen to your music at a lower level, don't play with music on or just always walk the safe route around an Lz so even if the Rasp or Vindi is going to land you won't get squished.

On one hand, it adds to atmosphere to have warning lights flickering when crafts are landing /OSHA approved infastructure

on the other hand, my god is it just great to see someone get crushed/ obliterated and no chance for respawning... fore-eve-ahh.
