I almost prefer it like it is now, I just keep the box open and my mouse on the machete.
but honestly, why even carry the scabbard if you can just take out the machete and put it on your belt or suit

Janina 'Bullseye' Jardine- Never misses, but what she DOES hit is another thing

This place would be so much better if marines were replaced with cyborgs, atleast those would follow orders. assuming there was a rule forcing them to do so...

Because the noise is satisfying and I want to feel like a Napoleonic cavalryman.

As a person who collects knives let me tell you about sheathes and blades specifically for a machete. It doesn't really make sense for the machete to be as clunky as it is in its sheath(in game), you could argue that the user would have to unbutton the strap that holds the machete in place during movement (so if you fall it wont slide out). However this can be generally be done in one fluid motion while drawing the weapon, as most manufactures factor that need to be able to draw it quickly into the design. Since we are talking about military grade gear here I would be very surprised if this was not specifically included into the design.

Next somebody mentioned difficulty in drawing the weapon, if you notice weapon sheaths are most commonly angled on the backs of the marines (and on people in real life). This is for ease of the draw, for example move right hand above your right shoulder as if you were grabbing the machete off your back then proceed to pull it out as if you were casting a fishing rod from over your shoulder. If it were horizontal their would be difficulty in drawing the blade.

Finally somebody pointed out that this weapon is a machete and might require some additional training to draw or use. In reality this may vary depending on the type of weapon, but the machete is a simple weapon that's been used for centuries and has a single bladed edge which makes it so much easier to use then say a double edged long/short sword. while I can see a danger in cutting ones ear off Its unlikely unless the marine isent wearing a helmet while training. that trainning being standing in prep and practicing drawing then sheathing the blade.

Btw +1 hope my explanation helps.

i agree that it should function like a real holster. and as far as "requiring too much skill" are you kidding me? a child can pull a sword out of its sheath, and a machete isnt even sword length. im pretty sure professional space soldiers can manage to unsheath a blade. if intention is clunkiness then that's just dumb... what about boot knife, suit holster? why SMG holster different from suit holster? is SMG intended to be a rare special weapon like machete? no, SMG is a piece of crap, but it still has the same imposed limitations as the machete.

Implemented. One click to take the machete out of the scabbard.
