USCM Dossier - Cliff Campbell

Post by Symbiosis » 27 May 2017, 17:28

Name: Cliff Campbell

Nicknames: None that seem to stick. Fellow soldiers have nicknamed him Oxy for his over-reliance on the effective, yet short lived painkiller.

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: 4th of July, 2142, Eastern Kentucky

Occupation: Line Medic. Currently stationed on the USS Almayer.

Appearance: Cliff weighs a "healthy" 205 and has a stature of 5'9. While not chiseled or in phenomenal shape, he nonetheless excels in carrying non-ambulatory patients off the battlefield.

Has been "affectionately" called Ginger over the years for his red hair. Luckily he avoided being cursed with an over-abundance of freckles.

Background: Cliff was born to an uneducated household. His father was a coal miner and his mother worked service jobs. He neither excelled in sports, nor in any educational pursuits throughout his formulative years, yet his Fathers undying Patriotism encouraged the young Cliff to make a leap of faith and enlist into the USCM at the first opportunity. Cliff yearns for the day he breaks into the ranks of NCO's, yet realistically his low birth, average intelligence, and less than stellar physical shape make that an unlikely reality.

Boot Camp: Cliff was by no means a stellar trainee. He barely qualified on the rifle range; and his PT scores put him in the bottom half of his class. His one redeeming trait was his unwavering endurance and blind patriotism. Where others would question the mission or belittle the USCM's corporate donors, Cliff would trust in Corps and his superiors. He finished Medic school with little fanfare. None of his immediate family were able to afford to visit him upon TRADOC completion. Nonetheless, he was eager to receive his first duty station.

First Duty Station and subsequent Transfer to the USS Almayer: Cliff was stationed at a refueling station on the Arcturian Homeworld. Literally a "dream duty station", yet Cliff harbored an innate Xenophobia for the Arcturians (due in part to his upbringing) that made the location less than ideal.

Cliff's first ground operation consisted of three platoons of USCM forces confronting a group of Arcturian Rebels that had managed to overrun a refueling dock. With the USCM forces having far greater technology and intel than the Arcturians, it was a simple operation. At least, it should have. Foolhardy Command or incompetent NCO's, the blame game that ensued post Op was lengthy. While the mission was a "success", two platoons were KIA'ed and the Dock itself had to be scuttled due to the tremendous damage it suffered. Cliff survived (obviously) but suffered his first physical wound, a plasma based weapon that seared through his chest armor, resulting in significant burns across his chest and shoulder. Upon suffering the aforementioned wound, Cliff's confidence in the USCM, and the Operation at hand, faltered. Were it not for a healthy supply of Oxycodone to numb the pain, he may have lost his courage.

Needless to say, High Command became involved in the aftermath of the operation. As punishment for the failure of the USCM forces in resolving the situation with minimal collateral damage, the surviving Marines were given new duty stations. Corporal Campbell was assigned to the USS Almayer. A relief for the Xenophobic Medic, yet he was careful to keep those sentiments silent.

Personality: Cliff is an easy-going Marine. He maintains an upbeat demeanor about most situations, and the will generally view the cup as "Half Full". He bears respect for the rank of his superiors, and barring issued non-sensical orders, he will generally toe the line. Cliff maintains a clear southern drawl, yet will control it during proper Military exchanges with those with a higher rank.

Strengths:

Loyalty to the USCM, his fellow Marines, and W-Y.
Physically beefy.
Crafty (while not overly intelligent, he's sharp enough to exploit loopholes)
Courage - when attempting to rescue wounded Marines.

Weaknesses:

Courage typically evaporates while wounded or experiencing high levels of pain. Oxycodone or high levels of Tramadol can "relieve" this weakness.
Slightly overweight. While strong, he won't be participating in a marathon.
Blind loyalty keeps Cliff from questioning orders, barring those that are clearly putting himself or other Marines in situations where there is obviously no chance of victory.
Overly reliant on Oxycodone. He hasn't quite yet reached the point of addiction, yet his administers Oxycodone for nearly every injury he incurs and for all of his non-ambulatory patients.

Question, why don't you spout random patriotical words into the marines for how devotedly fanatical you are?
