USCM Dossier: Raul Garrison

Post by Garrison » 10 Sep 2018, 00:22

I decided to cut and paste the dossier I made when I joined a Aliens RPG game sometime ago. I made some necessary modifications to accommodate for the lore of Colonial Marines. But I am looking for feedback if this doesn't stand up very well to the other Dossiers.

First name: Raul
Surname: Garrison
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Height: 179 cm (5" 8')
Weight: 89 kg (196lb)
Citizenship: United America's
Home System: Sol
Place of Birth: Fredericton, New Brunswick,Canada, United America's.

Rank: Lance Corporal

Upbringing & Early Career

Raul Garrison grew up in the rather tame environment of Fredericton New Brunswick on Sol. At age 20, he left home to seek work in the United States when the local economy collapsed. He took up a career with Weyland off system at a colony simply designated as LV-188. During his work there, he did physical training in his free time, in hopes of being able to join the lucrative but dangerous line of work Weyland could offer; their Private Military Company. However, his attempts to join the Company were rejected time and time again. He was not sure if it was something they disapproved of, or if some jackass in management didn`t like him. Probably the latter knowing how Corporations are these days. After a few months of getting over his metaphorical glass ceiling, he eventually sought out the next best alternative, the United States Colonial Marines. Although it wasn't as fancy and luxurious as being in a Private Company. It paid the bills, for both him and what family he had waiting for him back on Sol.

Raul Garrison was a capable but rather average soldier compared to his peers. He completed his training without fault or praise, and followed orders, seldom without question. Although he is noted for his obedience, this same feat seems to also cripple his creativity and adaptability in the field; it is unknown if its because of an inability to think for himself, or some form of over reliance in the grand scheme. This would be Raul's fourth year with the USCM, most of it involved Guard duty with the Garrison. Protecting remote systems and colonies from possible threat from raiders and hostile mercenaries. His first year was uneventful, made the job seem ridiculously easy, then it all came crashing down with constant incursions from a combination between Pirates and the Union of Progressive Peoples. It was a living hell, and it was both luck and having a good squad watching his back; that got him as far as he is now. However, with Raul's current battalion being disbanded from both casualties and retiring members. He has recently been reassigned from the Garrison to fight alongside the line infantry stationed on the USS Almayer. His survival in the USCM is now in the hands of the unknown.

Roles

Anything below Squad Leader
Maintenance Tech
Cargo Technician
Requisitions Officer

Personality & Traits

Garrison acknowledges that the power and success of the USCM rests solely in each troopers ability to fight and cooperate alongside one another. As such, he ensures to always stay with his squad and following orders to an unusually high amount of obedience. Even though Raul has the ideals and disciplines for a soldier of the USCM, his skills in combat have sometimes come under question, after a really poor experience of dishing out friendly fire, Raul has been hesitant to shoot at a target if there's a risk of hitting his comrade, getting cluelessly lost while out on the field was another, which was why he was thrown in the Garrison in the first place.

Known relations

Given that Raul Garrison has only recently been transferred onto the USS Almayer, he has had very little time to get to intimately know any of his new comrades onboard. Only thing he knows are rumors and reputations of popular or unpopular marines and staff currently on duty.

In a game where the humans need to rely on others. Blind trust is the best thing you can have. I won't deny though, there have been times where I follow marines who rush to far to their deaths, only to join them.

Yeah, well, I always have more faith in baldies as they always make the same descisions and I can play around that, but I have trouble grouping up when self preservation ( on mine and on their side) kicks in and I nope outa some God forsaken place. I basically saying I don't even trust myself to be a good marine....
