Backstory

How I got Enlisted

The story commences when I've met my old friend, who chose duty over going to university. I were finishing my diploma in economics degree, when he phoned me and proposed to go to the bar. I can't say I wasn't surprised, as thought he was sent away to Tychon Rift...
I agreed to meet him in the evening. As the day went by, I wondered of what he will say about duty: is it good or is it bad, officers are assholes or same marines, and much other.
In the evening, we've met near bar he chose, it was named "The Hanged Man", intriguing, huh? I greeted him by hugging my long lost amigo, and we entered the bar.
After few, only 10, mugs of beer, he offered me to enlist for officer training. He said it is prestigious to be USCM Officer, as it gives a lot of perks.
I answered that I will think about it. Evening passed, more beer was annihilated by us. I was that drunk, that I couldn't think. Then, someon came after my friendo, and took me with them. As I was told later, that was Military Police officer.
In the morning I woke up in a cell, with my friend. He was accused of Nod, because this idiot was ordered to do not drink alcohol. And I was accused with him, as partner in crime.
Thought, they realisied I weren't an enlisted, and allowed me to be free. But they proposed me to become an officer, due to my diplomatic skills.
And... I thought, why not?

My first operation

It was a lot of years ago, maybe 45... Counting my cryo-stasis age, of course. I was assigned to overwatch squad Charlie, led by SSGT nicknamed... I think it was "Bozo", but still not quite sure.
The operation goal was simple, swipe the area, eliminate CLF and evacuate via LZ2.
Aaaand as cliché, it all went FUBAR. We've been engaged with CLF fortpost armed with M56Ds, and with a sniper. SL couldn't call in CAS or OB due to heavy suppression. I called XO, in order to get some support for Charlies.
And what he said was "Bayonet charge the barricades, sooner or later CLF will run out of ammo." To say frankly, I were disgusted.
An Enlisted officer, awarded with medal of Valor ordered me to intentionally send soldiers into massacre. Unable to undo order announced by Commander(XO), I only could hope that marines under my command wouldn't die.
I felt desperate, watching as corpsmen got slaughtered by some funky "liberators".
That was horrible, I still can't believe that I watched it all closely, with not even a slightest sign of insanity. I felt how it is to be cold-blooded. And it's horrible.

Good

Captain Mueller Heinz — a genius CO, and a man to follow. He respects lives of corpsmen.

Bill Bashline — A quite insane, but good marine. Tho I wouldn't trust him getting me coffee... It would result in some adventure.

Dolthgar Folk — reliable and competent person. You can trust your life into his hands.

Mark Kesserline — hell of an engineer. He used so much claymores, that he deserves a medal for not getting blown up.


Fine

Phillip Murray — reliable, but quite selfish marine. I'd trust him a charge, but not life. It's hard to achieve his respect.

John Murry — Rambo, gets injured every operation. I can't remeber a day, when he wasn't shot, burned, crashed or smashed.

Sally Shears — competent and robust. Also selfish and non-talkative.


Don't like




Hatred

Captain Bill Carson — this "officer" has opinion that marines are just a line in the Requisitions list. He easily sends them into massacres.
