You can lase behind boilers and shit while they are trying to gas, if the CAS pilot is in the air already and drops everything you can kill a boiler lmao, because 7/10 times the boiler wants to push the marines back with a gas cloud before he moves.
KEEPER rockets can 1 shot close to everything at 2/3 tiles close from impact. If you do what I call fast laze (laze for 2 secs and hope your PO shoot in time the requested ammo) most resting xeno and bombarding boilers won't care and just die instantly. Also mortar can be great.

Yup, at the end of the day the most important factor is if the CAS pilot is in the AIR while the SL or spec lases, otherwise the boiler bombards and then runs away. To solve this I usually tell the PO let me know when he or she is in the air then i tell which squad laze to fire when it pops up and boom theres a boiler kill

I don't think that's the reason, actually.
Much like using scopes, zooming in one direction limits your vision in the other direction to one tile or two, so if you do it correctly, they literally cannot see the laser.
unless the defender guarding them warns them, that is.

PSA: the laser beam gun has been changed and no longer lights fires in a random line. Now it's more like a GAU, with a tighter firing spread and instead of exploding on impact, it lights little fires. Still does monstrous damage if it hits something directly.

With a good SL giving good lazes you can expect drops like this: https://gfycat.com/PleasingLittleErmine
I was that close air support pilot. Loaded my Normandy with two fatty's.

WHAP! Fry half a city with those puppies.

I do believe the order was

Widowmaker, or fatty (didn't seem big enough for a fatty)
1 mini-rocket
2 second gap
A BIG OLD FAT ONE (Fatty)
a load of mini rocket.

Seriously, this shows the power of CAS and how having a loadout that compliment itself can cause huge damage.

The space inbetween the Widowmaker and the fatty led to the hive thinking it was safe and than WOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSH, 5+ kills.

It's probably Fatty, Widowmaker, then a full payload of 6 mini rockets. Widow arrives first because the fatty is so slow.
You wrote this guide surely you know that the fatty explodes twice: a small explosion on the green laser then a massive follow-up explosion with no other telegraph

It's always been 500 points, but since it comes unloaded you also have to purchase the ammo for 300 points. I'll let you do the math

Dolth math 900 :|

Btw I too rarely see PO and SLs working together to do Quick-Lase KEEPER or laser-camera watches.

I don't know how 500+300=800.

Where did the 100 go?
