Acid damage is too high.
1 spit and you go from full health to red. Also takes fucking long to heal, gives pain and slows you down to walk intent speed.
Xeno to Marine damage is satisfying and works since when Marines take damage, the following occurs.
- They start to suffer slowdown
- Marines visibly take damage to their sprite
- Bones break and crunch signifying your dealing significant damage
- Marines reliably scream and squirm when they take major damage
All in all, fighting against Humans is enjoyable and satisfying.
In contrast, Marine to Xeno damage is rarely satisfying.
- Xenos randomly hiss when they take variable amounts of damage, they might scream from one minor hit, or they'll hiss after losing half their health
- Xenos don't display damage to their sprite
- Xenos suffer no slowdown when taking damage or when low on health
The only real time I find satisfaction in shooting Xenos is landing a close range Buckshot or a crunchy Flechette hit from a MOU or akin. The stun from the buckshot is the only real indicator you're doing 'SOMETHING'.
When you fire a M41A at a xeno. You don't feel the raw strength of the gun, or satisfaction in hurting a xeno. You feel like your shooting a BB gun at a Fallout monster or a SS13 mob that has only two states, alive and dead.
When I fire two bursts of a stock M41A at a Runner, and it just runs away at maximum game speed unfazed, while I'm left half dead and in pain crit from the acid that spewed off of it as I was shooting it, I feel like the game's cheating in the Xenos favour.
That's why Shotguns and niche gun builds like BC M41A or BFA SMG are the only ones I see. Cause they're the only builds that are either somewhat satisfying or can reliably hurt or even kill a Xeno when you shoot at them
This is war, survival is your responsibility

Oh yeah xeno slowdown and bleeding sprites would be great.
