Rule 14 applies as follows: "
Do not attack another player without a legitimate, explainable roleplay reason that could be applied in a similar, real-life scenario. A fist fight does not suddenly escalate into a gun fight. Even if you are justified, you are still susceptible to
Marine Law."
Clearly you've selectively read the rules. You seem to have missed both Rule 15 and Rule 16.
- "Rule 15. Military Police - All Military Police jobs must follow Marine Law. They may ignore Minor Crimes unless ordered to enforce them, but they may not ignore Major Crimes nor commit any crimes themselves, Minor or Major.
- Rule 16. Battlefield Execution - Whitelisted Commanders are allowed to instantly kill any player at any time if the player fulfills the conditions found in Marine Law. Excessive or poorly-reasoned battlefield executions (such as BEing MPs over a valid arrest) may end with the Commander being removed from the whitelist."
I'll start chronologically.
Rule 15 regards military police. Now you may be asking, "Vispain, surely you are thinking of something else. How does the Military Police rule apply to a BE???"
Well, the crimes you were committing would be brig worthy, even perma-brig worthy, even if it was a Military Policeman enforcing them. From my experience as Military Policeman player let me list off the crimes I could charge you with (the one that's the highest + additional time to reflect other law breaks would be the end choice as that's how ML works):
- Sedition
- Insubordination cases (this would be for failure to follow orders to lead your squad to support others)
- Disrespecting a Superior Officer (multiple times & it should be mentioned these stack)
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon (because threatening someone with ill intent to kill counts as Assault with Deadly Weapon)
In short, most of these law breaks are crimes that classify under Major and Sedition counts as Capital. These are crimes even lenient MPs
can't ignore.
I ask you. Do you HONESTLY believe I could ignore them?
Further invalidating Rule 14, simply put, is Rule 16. If you aren't familiar Rule 16 is on BEs. You were seditious. What's more is through your threats you were doing the following quote directly from the ML Wiki on BEs.
- Threat to your command. Credibly attempting to or threatening to undermine your command or attempting to remove your command through illegal means. (The CL or other crew reporting you to high command does NOT permit you to BE them. A minor insult or disagreement is not undermining your command, countermanding or refusing to follow orders is.)
- Threat to persons. Credibly threatening and attempting to do harm to the CO or to someone while in the CO's presence.
- Threat to the ship (This is true if you consider the fact that letting you start a mutiny would invariably cause damage to the ship and its ability to operateCredibly threatening or attempting to do damage to the ship or the USCM while in the COs presence.
