CL isn't really a game changer at all, as someone who plays the CL enough to know what i'm talking about, they occasionally have an impact on the round but otherwise we're here to give research more clearance and approve their wacky ideas and report the occasional marine.

Yeah. What real incentive is there for an XO/CO to make an actually meaningful decision that impacts the round due to the CL? I get that it can be fun RP et all, but in any case the bigger question is always if it is fun for the marines who get impacted than if it is fun for the one CL running around the ship. I advice any CL to consider this whenever you want to even try to strongly influence the round rather than doing stuff that is mostly under the hood.
That said, even before expected contact it made sense for the CL to minimize leaked information, because W-Y could use the Xenomorph bodies for their research projects, so I don't feel much has changed in that regard.
