With all the recent sentry buffs and changes to final round stages on the almayer, might as well go with sentries. The M56D had a small pool of niches it was really good at but now that the sentry has received some buffs there isn't really much need to use the 56D over the sentry anymore. It's still good for narrow places and the damage is still insane.
If 'rines ever actually used the MGs I build at the front I'd die happy. More often than not if anyone is using it people run in front of it to get delimbed. I still pick it because I'm horrible and I like fun.
M56D, because even though it needs someone competent manning it, it can kill a xeno. Plus, doesnt require batteries.
Of course M56D. One round of WO should change mind any "Sentry Biased" engineer. Sentry can't hit shit. Xenos are not scared of sentry. Xenos hide just behind corner to waste sentry ammo. Only usefull when you set this where nobody wants to guard like TComms in Big Red, or north/northeast from LZ1 in Ice that isn't nice. When you hear it shooting, rush it's position.
In all honesty, I think the sentry is there just to buy you time, while you have someone next to it.
