Reason: Naming my SADAR 'Ass Exploder'; Verdict: Appealed

Have you received any ban within the last month? How long was it and what for?
    None.

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
    Yes

How do you view the tool of Battlefield Execution to be used? What circumstances do you think it would be necessary to BE a member of the crew? Where do you think the Battlefield Execution Mechanic Differs from regular Execution and why?
I view BEs as a way to quickly dispatch crew members for executable offenses under ML and other special circumstances when time is very limited and/or lack the resources for proper execution. I believe BEs should be used sparingly, Too much use of BEs is bad and too little is also bad. Not using BEs would be bad because players would see you as weak and take you less seriously. However finding every little excuse you can to BE someone is not fun, makes your crew view you as an insane CO and can even get your whitelist removed.

I believe BEs should only be used on crew members who are
    a) Currently performing/have done actions that jeopardize(d) the entire operation (ex: killing the PO before launch, delaying the launch of the dropship and potentially harming the operation) (ex2: a Rogue doctor is distributing ‘Unga juice with poison in it.)
    b) Performed executable offenses under ML where the lack of time/resources makes a normal execution impossible/highly impractical (ex: Marine who was marked for insubordination shot and killed an MP and escaped on alamo to the planet, where the CO is deployed.)
    c) Directly attacking you and life is in danger (ex: someone purposely PBed you)
    d) Planning to/actively trying to commit treason/overthrow you. (ex: mutiny)
    e) Doesn't show obvious signs of being bald/incompetent: Just because you are new to the game and screw up doesn't mean you should get BE'd for it (ex: new marine accidentally primes HEFA in alpha prep and kills 3 others including himself. )
There may be more that I missed but these are the primary reasons that I will consider BEing someone.

Proper executions require the announcement of the accused, their crimes, the method of executions and the scheduled time of the execution. Executions also require the accused to say their last words and need more deliberation. It involves much more roleplay, time, effort and players. It especially gives the MPs something to do after deployment and allows for more types of executions, even unusual ones (provided HC approves). BE is a quick way to execute in certain circumstances such as lack of time or delta alert level.

How will your Commanding Officer run his/her ship? Provide a detailed explanation on how he would handle situations that might commonly occur such as, a insubordinate Req, Engineering, MP, or Command Staff
Gusman prefers (and expects) to let NCOs, department heads and leaders do their job. He only micromanages departments if he needs to. However should the department or leader refuse orders or not do their jobs properly, Gusman will not be afraid to step in.

Situation: Insubordinate Requisitions refuses to serve delta marines before deployment, which are needed in critical tasks and therefore damages their operational efficiency.

After getting complaints from the Delta SL and various delta marines, Benson would order requisitions to serve delta marines. If requisitions refuse or complaints continue, Benson would move to requisitions himself and repeat his orders, this time threatening them with Neglect of duty and replacement. If requisitions still does not comply, Gusman will then assign an XO or CT as aRO and then have the RO brigged for Neglect of duty.

Situation: Instead of establishing power, MTs dick around the Almayer, causing CIC power to shut down 3 minutes after deployment and comms to eventually shut down. There is no CE.

When CIC power is down, Gusman will hail the engineers on the radio, ordering them to get power up. At the same time, he will order the XO to try and get a spare battery and to load it into the APC to restore power temporarily. During this time, Gusman will announce to marines that the CIC power is down and that MTs need to fix it ASAP. If they don’t respond, Gusman will check the crew manifest/health monitor and see if any MTs or CE is available. Gusman will then order the MTs on engineering radio to fix power, this time threatening Neglect of duty charges against them. If they continue to ignore command and refuse orders, Gusman will order the XO and synth to help setup power and then call the MPs to arrest all MTs found on the station and charge them with Neglect of duty. If they intended to sabotage the ship and the operation, they may be EXECUTED for Desertion.

Situation: SO is drunk on duty, ignoring his assigned console and running around Almayer.

Gusman will instruct the SO to return to CIC immediately and then take his console and overwatch for the squad. If the SO arrives and is still drunk, he will be brigged for Intoxication. If he does not and continues to dick around, Gusman will threaten him with Neglect of Duty charges. If the situation persists, Gusman will order the MPs to search for the SO to arrest for NoD. If they cause massive issues (disorderly conduct) around the Almayer and/or a manhunt, Gusman will consider an execution for Desertion.

Situation: MP arrested the only bravo engineer before deployment for Disorderly Conduct due to smoke nading briefing. The MP assigned him the maximum sentence. Bravo is riled up outside of brig and the engineer will likely miss deployment. He is needed for FOB.

Depending on what he did, Gusman will pardon the bravo engineer with a stern warning so they won't miss deployment and so bravo is happy (and won’t riot or worse, m u t i n y). Depending on how disruptive he was, Gusman may also order that he gets charged for Hooliganism instead and his brig timer reduced to 5 minutes accordingly.

Situation: MP is messing around and pulls a “prank” on CMP by drugging him to sleep, dragging him to the execution room and then puts him on the chair. (actually dealt with this as an XO)

Gusman will ahelp first because breaking ML as MP is against server rules, especially when you commit major crimes. Then Gusman will question both sides to see what has happened, confirming the story and getting witnesses. After that, the MP shall get charged with Assault, Illegal Confinement and Neglect of Duty, all max times. Depending on how severe it is the MP will either be permabrigged or may even be executed. (and possibly face further OOC punishment from the admins due to previously mentioned ahelp)

What do you think is the job of a Commander?
The commander’s job is to oversee, manage and facilitate the operations of the Almayer and its crew. From the lowly Squad marine to the MT, all the way to the XO. They must ensure their subordinates carry out their mission in the most efficient and successful manner.

To carry out this mission a commander must use their ability to influence, lead and guide their subordinates to their fullest extent to accomplish the mission by using purpose, direction, and motivation. There is one final responsibility for commanders that I think is overlooked and that is Accountability.
It is the reckoning when they must answer for their actions and accept the consequences, good or bad. In addition, they must learn from their mistakes and adapt their methods accordingly in order to succeed in their next mission

I also believe communication is key for commanders. They can send announcements to every single marine for a reason. Communicating everything that happens on the ground especially flanks and queen pushes can decide the outcome of a battle. A lack of communication in CIC can adversely affect the operation and can even ruin the round for some people. Lack of communication is even a legitimate reason to mutiny.

Lastly, the commander must also strive to make rounds fun as well as challenging themselves to win them. While ordering squads to drop at 12:15 to metarush hive may get you a quick and easy victory. It will not be very fun for Xenos and many marines.

As a player what do you think could be added for Commanding Officer to benefit the role?
    1. A way for COs/XOs to view overwatch cams to get a better grasp of the situation rather than kicking a SO off the console.
    2. Flasher; I think it would be great if the CO started with a flasher within their locker as an option to handle disobedient and discontent marines without straight-up resorting to BEing.

3.An easier way to communicate in radio channels to all squads rather than copy & pasting the same line four times.
-Making the CIC intercom near the communications console able to send messages to all squads would work and take minimal effort from the devs.

What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted?
Due to my timezone being HST (Hawaii Standard Time), I most often play during low pop hours unless it's the weekends. Low pop rounds usually have little to no CIC staffing and COs playing during those hours are quite rare. Personally, I have experienced rounds where I had run CIC alone and sometimes even req as XO. I could greatly contribute to the player base by being an active CO during low pop rounds.

I want to also be unique and stand out as a CO, especially during the briefing. I never want to be the lazy COs who just say: "welcome to briefing, bravo fob, delta and alpha scout, charlie with tank, don't ff, dismissed!!". In my opinion, the best briefings are usually the ones where you involve marines, clearly communicate orders and objectives, portray your personality as a CO, and have some RP, all while keeping it in a reasonable 2-3 minutes so it doesn't become a snoozefest.

    I chose a Dossier
    ---------- USCM PERSONNEL FILE #433-12-X4D ----------
    FULL NAME: Gusman H. Gusman
    Birthday:5/26/2153
    Age: 37 years
    Sex: Male
    Rank: Captain (O5)
Assignment:2nd battalion 4th "Falling Falcons" brigade, USS Almayer
    Ethnicity: Japanese, African-American
Family: Jackson Gusman (younger brother,31), Jayden Gusman (deceased), Howard Gusman (Father,82), Yukiko Gusman (Mother, 80), Melody Gusman (Girlfriend, 28), Charm Gusman (Daughter, 4)

    Biography
Gusman was born in 2153 at Valles Colony, Mars. Since the Gusman family was very wealthy, Gusman had the privilege to attend expensive private schools with his brother Jayden Gusman. His academic performance was above average, only geting straight A's in culinary and PE classes. He also notably took Colonial Marines Junior Reserve Officers Training Course (CMJROTC) as an elective in High School and was an active cadet. Gusman’s instructors noted his “delicious catering to field activities' '.

His family ran a well-known formal restaurant company called “The Carp House”. The family-owned company was founded by Henry Gusman in 2039 on Valles Colony and had at its peak had over 240,000 restaurants spanning across the galaxy. The company is well known to serve delicious platters with family recipes going back generations. Benson, in particular, was next in line to inherit the family company, however, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2172 due to multiple frivolous lawsuits. The Gusman family was almost forced into poverty because of this with .

With the loss of his future income and stripped of his job, he resorted to a minimum wage chef job in a small semi-formal restaurant called “Space Cuisine” in the Valles Colony. After a few months of working, Gusman then quit his job after hearing about his younger brother, Jayden Gusman’s death in a kitchen fire. Jayden’s death changed Gusman drastically and prompted him to change his course in life. Due to his experience in CMJROTC and wanting to change his path in life, he then decided to enlist in the USCM Officer Cadet School (OCS) in 2174 at the West Valles Colony Recruitment Office.

USCM OCS Records: Cadet file #12914-B
“Gusman was a troubled student at first, but he was quickly squared away. He barely passed his first few leadership tests and even failed a couple. When he was threatened with being recycled into the normal Bootcamp he improved and focused a lot more. In addition, He is very passionate about food, he hated the food here and I have observed him trading MRE items during field training to make ‘the perfect MRE’. He can be described as a very lax individual, sometimes even carefree and lazy. However, once things get serious, he steps up, stays on top of things and makes a solid commander overall. Gusman is also, at times, highly unpredictable, he will change his mind rapidly or use some rather unorthodox methods to tackle an objective, a trait that I believe, is needed in our officers.”
    -GySgt Adams

    DECORATIONS:

5/3/2164: Cadet Lance Corporal Benson Gusman was awarded the CMJROTC ‘Cadet of the Year’ award for: “Performing excellent duties as a cadet in my program. He is very honest, accountable and physically fit despite a fondness for food, he's more than ready to be a marine or maybe even an officer.” -MAJ(Ret) Stanley

9/22/2188 Executive Officer Benson Gusman was awarded the distinguished conduct medal for:For doing an amazing job leading the Marines as XO on this deployment. Captain material right there.

1/22/2189 Executive Officer Benson Gusman was awarded the distinguished conduct medal for:With his decisive leadership and clear tactical thinking this operation would never have been possible. A true exemplar of his station, and one I wouldn't mind seeing replace me when the time comes.

11/16/2189 Executive Officer Benson Gusman was awarded the distinguished conduct medal for: Led a lengthy operation from the Captain's chair. Ensured proper supply and updated Tact Maps were readily available. Suggesting promotion to Captain for this Officer!

Notes: Constantly keeps requesting High Command for the Almayer be retrofitted with a full-size kitchen and DFAC to replace the ‘kitchen worse than the ones on a 15$ a night Mars motel’ and the ‘sad excuse for food’

The story is decent and the application has a lot of effort. Together with that I know you are good at XO and dealing with situations like that MP situation...

I support this and wish you luck in getting whitelisted!

A decent application, that which I can support.

I have seen your answers before, and you have performed the changes that I have recommended.

I have seen you in-game and you're decent at commanding.

    e) Doesn't show obvious signs of being bald/incompetent: Just because you are new to the game and screw up doesn't mean you should get BE'd for it (ex: new marine accidentally primes HEFA in alpha prep and kills 3 others including himself. )
You did not need to include this, but it's fine as-is.

Your quirk is what I like the most. It would be interesting to see the dialogue emanating from you. However, your quirk isn't shown very well during rounds, but I think that you should be fine.

I like this app, but first I ll ask you a couple of questions: ( Answer as if you were the CO )

1 - You are playing on full pop in LV-624. Alpha spec is arrested for DASO since he called "faggot" to the RO for not giving him an HEFA. Alpha is assigned to escort the IOS and immediately starts complaining saying that the Specialist is critical to their squad since he has the SADAR loadout. Would you consider pardonning him ?

2 - 2 Colonists arrive at the USS Almayer. They say they were recovered by the deployed marine units and ask you to join your ranks and participate as Temporary Squad Marines. One of the Colonists was a doctor and the other was a chef. What would you do ?

3 - The CE enters requisitions and starts grabbing supplies and the RO denies them and tells the CE to get out of requisitions. The CE refuses to leave and gets arrested for tresspassing. He later asks you to appeal or pardon his sentence. What would you do ?

    Good luck !

Thank for taking the time to review my app!

    1. Gusman would not pardon the alpha spec for three reasons:

Firstly, they are assigned to IOs, they don't need a SADAR spec to guard IOs. Especially that SADARs are meant to be used against t3s and big groups of Xenos, it is way overkill to have it used against the usual harassment castes that IOs usually encounter.

Secondly, it is LV, it is more than likely fog that will last for the first 10-15 minutes of deployment. That means the spec won't be necessary during that time. Even if there are fog gaps, it is hard to push those chokepoints because of CBT (Chokepoint and Boiler Torture). Hell, by the time he makes it planetside after he is released, marines would probably be starting to push from hydro.

Thirdly, who gets that mad over HEFA?

Gusman will tell alpha these reasons if they complain about his decisions and will also tell them that disrespect against senior officers will not be tolerated.

    2. Gusman will not allow them to take marine equipment but will allow them to go back down again the the planet. The doctor can help wounded in FOB and the chef can also help guard FOB.

    3. Gusman would also not pardon the CE in this case because he could have simply asked req over comms first instead of being a dick and breaking in to try to steal supplies.

I unfortunately don't recall playing with you very much in the CiC, but that's almost definitely due to when I play versus when you probably play. You seem like a nice CM player, and someone who could contribute to the role of Captain well. The application is done nicely, and I think that quirk could bring some interesting events to life during the round. Good luck out there. +1

I've seen ya around in Command a bit and you've been my OW as well. Competent as they come and decent in and out of the game so I see no problems with ya as being my Captain.

+1 from me friend and good luck!
