IMO the CAS update seemed quite interesting. Didn't get to try out performing the fire missions, but I tried out a simple version.
Sure, it's a bit complex and poorly instructed, but it's enough to prompt new pilots to check the wiki instead of trying to muck about.
And again, it was a test run, so it's not supposed to be 100% done.

CAS needs a different sound than the landing sound. I hear the landing sound and immediatly go oh shit we gotta break the cades now before they run. Then I get blown up by the CAS.
I mean, the fire missions do have a different sound: they have a sonic boom at the start of it. If you somehow ignore that sound (which Neth's indicated can be heard from more than a screen away after one instance) then yeah, I guess it sounds like a dropship landing.
