This is the fifth time we have declare LRP dead, and we are becoming exceedingly good at it.

Ok lets review
Pros of deploying:
Funny gun with 5-round burst, you can literally solo a ravager with this gun if you use AP
Tablet that you can use to send announcements that actually make sense instead of what you gather from watching helmet cams
Great Armor
Fastest Lazing in the game, nearly instant
People will sacrifice themselves for you and usually follow you better than their SL
Best orders in the game
Cons:
You get metatargeted because of the armor
Mateba is garbage in combat
Note that the first con can be undone because we have no restriction on giving out our armor, and using a raincover you can disguise the helmet
Nathon Stafford-Sunglasses wearing Delta L42 kiter man. Sometimes a Captain.
Benedict-Praiser of Jesus, healer of marines, killer of Queens.
Kahn'Ikesh-Blooded Hunter and great grandson of Gor'don Ram-sey

Literally every good captain player right now deploys. I really don't see why it's such a problem to lead from just behind the front line and call in fire support, only using the gun to fight stuff with a big mess of marines.
Both of these make sense, but only because it falls under the "This is why we can't have nice things".
Simple case of some players ruining it for others, so unfortunately you have to put it broad rules to restrict stupid.
1. You technically should only be playing your white-listed character, part of the application process is approving your characters motives and beliefs. Making up a new character every-time somewhat voids the whitelist process as you're pretty much winging it with a wild character whenever you feel like it.
I'm going to take a wild guess here and say some players/CO's have really been pushing the "Acceptable Character" limit for a CO and gone overboard sparking this change.
2. CO's really shouldn't be going planet side if you're speaking from a Lore/RP point. Super unrealistic for a CO to ever go on the group for any operation unless the ship needs to be abandoned or their presence is absolutely mandatory. Back in the day we have a rule restriction that any Command level personnel were restricted to the FOB, but this was a nightmare to manage and people constantly stretched it.
Another case of CO players probably going down, instantly getting killed and then the slot being locked for the rest of the round.
I really just seems like a bunch of shitty CO's though have ruined it for others and this is why we can't have nice things.
In my opinion, CO's were and are (supposed to be) a roleplay position first. Not sure why every round the CO thinks it's cool to deploy planetside and start shooting aliens completely abandoning the entire point of the whitelist.
Someone on the dev team open my giant google document and just add in Platoon Leader, it was essentially supposed to be the groundside CO who was actually allowed to be near the frontlines.

Except that every ground CO I knew did their job better because they had to, put more effort into actually leading the operation and brought enjoyment to the marine side. But if your a CO who roleplays in the ship all round and doesen't actually contribute to doing their job, then you get praised, its been a vile double standard for months now that council and staff have flat out ignored, besides from making like one announcement about it and then never enforcing it. Also theirs literally a captain who leads from the front in the aliens lore, and CO's get mechanical advantages to doing so, its a more fun way to play for alot of us, and the fact that you can just do more tactics while deployed. Its an objective fact that marines will follow the blue star more, and you can pull off way more aggressive flanks and big gambit pushes when your deployed, In the last several months I can only count one time that I've died early planetside out of dozens of rounds where I lead from the ground, but eh, I guess its just not for me anymore.
Commanding Officer waking up, instantly shoving the entire operation on the XO and then fucking about in the kitchen or some shit: "That's fine, it's his whitelist he can play it how he feels suits him best. "
Commanding Officer going groundside: "This is disgusting and LRP a commanding officer wouldn't just ABANDON his ship and post like that. >"
That is all.
Such a strange set of conditions that seems unnecessary, can't tell why they're being placed either
And what real life circumstances are we comparing this to the fact that commanding officers deploying in unrealistic? Flag officers always had been in the front with their battalions. This includes from navy, airforce and land forces...
