I assume the OB sentence means remembering where the Queen will most likely Ovi on prison, figuring out the coordinates for that spot, and then firing an OB at that spot without actually exploring the station first or something.
It's honestly a pretty poor comparison since the closest equivalent, camping the LZs, is officially considered metagaming unless someone loopholes it. Getting targetted as spec isn't comperable to meta OBing the queen at 12:10 though, so there's no real relevance.

this is a non-issue. The real crime is increasing the time to melt weapons so you can't neuro -> melt spec guns reliably any more.
I belive that the Spec weapons shouldn't be melted. The Reason is, You CANNOT order another from Cargo. And marines tend to lose the foothold when spec loses their weapon.
I see too alternatives to this:
1 = Allow Spec weapons to be ordered from cargo when they are melted and code a way to prevent Cargo from ordering it when it's existant.
2 = Disable Spec weapon melting.
Every spec weapon except the sniper (which should be used from far away) and the scout rifle can have a mag harness.
True, but in practice SADARs always take the miniscope. Besides, the current metatarget strat is less about melting the gun and more about Ravagers running up and getting one hit, which immediately severs one of their hands and removes them from the round for so long that it's over by the time they get fixed.
For more spec weapons, the ASRS update Awan is working on gives more spec weapons at random.
For all specialists, do your best to conceal yourself as much as you can.
Sniper and (if you want to ditch the cape and keep the rifle/eye piece) scout specs can conceal themselves to become regular marines.
Pyro and M5 RPG are big targets. Pyro can conceal themselves by just grabbing the flamethrower and the fuel tanks while the RPG more than likely will be the sore thumb.
And for the RPG, you're already a target, you might as well maximizes your effectiveness. If there's a sniper, ask them for the smock, acts as a satchel with backpack storage. Best to keep your rockets in there.
B18 is well, B18, what can you do with that?
It's not really an issue. Just don't stand out in the crowd and you'll be fine. (For those who can conceal themselves at least).

Good hunting.

I'll preface this by saying I don't play spec, but in any role I'd be 100% ok with having to choose between practical utility and the safety of not losing my weapon.
Just make it so all Aliens see marines as Unknown Baldies with Standart armour and helmets, without squad colours.
Or a god damn siluets in THERMAL VISION.
Sarg is on the right track, you can do very well to disguise yourself as a Spec.
Ditching your cloak as a Scout Spec is a hard choice but doing so makes you essentially near identical to any other marine, more so if you wear standard marine armour. RPG Spec can do some wiz stuff by facing your sprite and having your RPG in one hand to hide as much of the RPG as you can. Facing north-ward will make the RPG only appear as a small circle that is much harder to spot at a glance, and running left or right you can switch your RPG into your opposite hand and it'll hide most of the RPG's sprite.
