Role
The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the overall health of ALL staff on the USS Sulaco. That means you should be in medical at all times, ensuring patients get treated so they can go out to get hurt again. Your job also includes overseeing the research department, which is usually one nerd working on... Nothing!
You also have some limited authority over the Combat Medics, as you have absolute say (except in the case of the Commander and XO) over all medical procedures on and off of the Sulaco.
Communication
When playing as the chief medical officer you'll want to keep in contact with the medics asking if they require any medical supplies and making sure they let you know when injured are being evaced so you can have a doctor on standby in the hangar to intercept and quickly get injured to the medical bay for a efficient treatment. If you find that you need to conduct more surgeries and there aren't enough Operating theatres then you can ask requisitions to order you a surgery crate and conduct your surgery on a roller bed.
Drug Distribution
Drug distribution can be defined as:
"Any drugs found in medical will require authorisation from the CMO and the CO for distribution."
To sum it up, you (The CMO) and the acting commander are authorising the client (Aka, anyone who asks for drugs from medbay. Most commonly medics.) to be given Medbay's medical supplies.
To distribute drugs, you as the CMO will have to authorise it and also the get acting commanders permission to distribute drugs as well, if that doesn't happen the act of distributing drugs is seen as illegal and is punishable in accordance to marine law.
As you are the CMO you will be receiving requests for drug distribution to authorise and then to ask the acting commander, most of the time this is done over the radio, however you can setup some brief paperwork for the distribution of drugs with the signature of yourself and the acting commander required along with the recipients name to act as a more permanent drug distribution pass for the recipient holder.
