Keep in Mind that changelings do not exist in code or in official lore, only in the minds of admins who run changeling events. This means it may take a second for your abilities to work, because it is an admin behind the scenes making the magic happen.

It is important to note, Changelings are not a part of the lore, only for use in events. They may become more or less "lore" in the future, but as of now, they are simply a unique event.

Overview

As a Changeling, your primary duty is Complete your objectives.

Changelings are a high roleplay event role run by admins scarcely. Depending on the admin running the event your abilities will vary. The following are a list of generic abilities that will be used most commonly by the Changeling Event guy Fortelian. If another admin is running a changeling event, you can advise them to use this page as guidelines, but that is entirely up the person running the event.

Being a changeling is no small feat. People will try to kill you. However, you should keep in mind that you are a High Roleplay Role and you should act like it. While I'm not asking you to type a paragraph while being mag dumped, make an attempt to scare people, and roleplay and stuff before you begin killing.

Your Abilities

As a changeling you have many unique and handy abilities that will give you an upper-edge in fighting and survival. Your #1 ability is reviving from death. Depending on the type of changeling you are, you may need a full human body to revive, or perhaps just a drop of blood to revive yourself. That will be determined by the admin running the event. However, it is safe to assume that you won't be dead for long, in any case.

Revival

Your first and foremost ability. When dead, you can revive from death. If you die, make sure to let the event runner know if they don't already. Then they can work out a way for you to revive yourself. Let's say you're a maintenance technician and another MT knows you are a changeling, kills you, and runs off. Left alone, your body can fully heal and stitch itself back together. If your body is cremated, you cannot revive yourself. However, different types of changelings can revive in different ways. One particular type is able to revive itself from a drop of blood.

Sleep Injection

An injection of sleeping toxins into your opponent. They are usually fast working, but may disable your ability to attack as they are a defense mechanism. Up to the discretion of the event runner. They may let you just sleep people and eat them, or they may only let you use it if you run away afterwards. Nonetheless, it's an effective tool in your not dying kit.

Absorb

Absorbs the memory and knowledge of the target. Also lets you transform into them. This is usually used for objectives, so don't go around saying "I absorb CO XO and all SOs". Usually your event runner will tell you who you need to absorb in order to complete your objectives.

Transform

The actual change in changeling. This lets you change into someone, or some thing else. Depending on what type of changeling you are, you may only be able to switch into organic human forms, but perhaps you can switch into inanimate objects, or at least imitate them if you are a different type. Don't worry about not knowing, as the admin running the event will most likely tell you what exactly you can do at least in regards to transforming preferably when the round starts, or before.

Integrate

A very spooky ability, and surely the most powerful for the wise changeling. This ability allows a changeling to integrate an organic being into The Collective, essentially making them your partner in crime. NOTE: They are not beneath you, they do not work for you. They work WITH you. Not all changelings can do this, and it does not work against those with a strong will. However, if you succeed in integrating someone, they will make a valuable asset to your team.

Infest

You use some of your organic matter to create new life. Spiders. Not a lot, and they aren't very powerful, but they are rather scary to crew members caught by surprise and can buy you time to escape if placed well. They may attack you, but a good admin running the event will set your faction to spiders so they do not attack you.

Lay Egg

Allows you to lay an egg in a suitable host. Basically, if you're in a pinch, you can lay an egg in some random body, then run away and die, and after some time you will be revived in a perfect genetic copy of that body (I ckey you into the body and aheal it and we call it good).

Counters

Changelings are not a be-all end-all. They are killable. To kill a changeling for good, it depends on how it can revive. Sadly, unless you get a gamer marine main admin running the event you may not know exactly how your foe can revive themselves. But, that's not a big deal, just get the job done right the first time and you won't need to worry.

To properly dispose of your resident changeling, take their body, cremate it, and spray space cleaner all around the area it bled. This might kill it for good! Might not! Really you have no way of knowing. Basically though, fire, space cleaner, removing blood from the area, destroying the body entirely, all limbs, all traces of it. Yeah, you get the gist. Also, it may have laid an egg sooooooo... good luck!
