As a Cargo Technician you are subordinate to the Requisitions Officer, your task is to assist the RO in any and all cargo related tasks. With the ultimate goal of your work being to ensure the Marines on the planet get what they need when they need it.

Cargo Tech Overview

Your ultimate role as a Cargo Tech is to take pressure off of the RO as he does his job. What you'll be doing on a round to round basis will depend on the approach and competence of the RO.

You'll be spending most of your time helping the RO by moving crates from A to B, manning the cargo line to issue attachments to Marines and overall preforming any other miscellaneous tasks the RO sets out for you, such as gather additional weapons and ammo from the marine equipment room.

Round Start Rush

At the start of the round you should assist the RO by going out back and getting as many empty metal crates as you can find, each one is worth their weight in cargo points and is likely to help the RO a lot.
Afterwards you should ask the RO what you should do, he'll likely set you a task or just tell you to mill about. If the RO does not set you a task, or you finish your assigned task, you can help out the RO by taking a spare empty crate down to the Marine equipment room and filling it up with Marine Belts (filled with ammo and flares), guns and helmets for later on.
Note that if you're stuck on attachment duty and if the RO gives you an order to not distribute a certain attachment (such as saving attachment X for only certain Marine roles) then you have to obey that order, only Command can override that order.

Despite the temptation remember that you are only authorized to carry a Pistol outside of the Sulaco being boarded, and while you can feel free to help yourself to some attachments you really should wait until after all the Marines have arrived to get theirs.

Field Promotion

Should the RO either die, go missing in action or otherwise have never even bothered to show up then you'll be in charge of cargo bay, or at least you and the other cargo technicians.
If you find yourself in that situation simply refer to the Requisitions Officer wiki page for further information on running the department. But at minimum just ensure that you can hand out enough attachments to any Marines requesting them and you prepare some supplies for the supply drops.

The B̶r̶i̶t̶i̶s̶h̶ Aliens are coming!

Should you find yourself under the cross hairs of a Alien invasion you suddenly will find yourself in a unique position. Your access to Cargo gives you access to a wide range of weapons, from grenades, incendiary's, flamethrowers, medical supplies, piles upon piles of ammunition and even coveted items like plasteel and even sentry guns! However on the other hand Cargo is oft the #1 spot for the Aliens to attack, as your cargo ladder leads directly to the most uncontested side of the hanger bay.

With the right modifications Cargo can become a fortress unto itself. Follow the directions of the RO (and check out the RO wiki page for more information on defending the Cargo Bay) and ensure you're equipped with the right tools. A few plasteel barricades surrounding the ladder, followed by wielded doors, flamers, grenades and sentry guns, will cause most Aliens to seek a alternative way up.
